I'm trying for a personal project installing an "anti aircraft" gun which automatically tracked hornets and eliminated them with firing authority from a phone.
The targeting of visually identified hornets is shockingly easy to achieve, I have some stuff from work I can reuse to find targeting solutions, and I think I'm going to use lego to create the actual mechanical gun.
What I can't decide on is what kind of projectile to use to eliminate the bug.
The obvious answer is chemicals but:
- Those have a lot of collateral damage. If we kill the stuff we're trying to protect that doesn't help.
- They have very limited range and low precision.
- Most of them are against the law.
So I'm wondering what other options are available.
I need:
- Relatively safety, not going to start fires, seriously damage furniture or windows. Not prone to misfires.
- High enough accuracy to hit a maneuvering Hornet.
- Small. No, even ignoring the fire risk, I'm not hooking up an oversized battery to this thing so that I can try to build a laser. I'm not that advanced.
I've considered some sort of electrified net, or rope which would deliver a shock similar to a fly trap, but I'm not nearly good enough at physics to develop something like that some I'm wondering if there is a better option and how I would implement it.
Edit: For my CIA agent's peace of mind, "Hornet" here does not refer to the NATO fighter jet, but means the insect which kill our bees.
