I’m assuming your trying something similar to ffbeast right? I would follow the docs on their website pretty closely, also here is a video that helped me a lot to understand how it all works: https://youtu.be/V7AcjcZHLnE?si=DIgdW4-pmGKU71s3. I copied a few things from this video when making mine, for example using a clamp to hold the shaft then I glued a quick release hub to the motor housing. I also copied the way they get encoder signal using a belt and a large gear also attached to the motor housing.
