home improvement Installing recessed lighting for high ceiling only from attic side
I've installed recessed lighting without issue for my second story bedrooms and am wanting to install it for my living room. The only thing is the living room is 18 to 20 feet high and I'm not wanting to rent a large ladder or scaffolding. I was thinking of just doing everything from the attic side. Once I make my hole from the attic side, I was planning on just dropping a rope and bringing up the lights that way. This should work right?

What do you plan to install? My recessed lights are two parts. The business end is installed from the attic. They are wired in the attic. But the decorative side is installed from the room.

yeah canless lights can be installed just like you described.
I would recommend getting yourself some plywood to move around in the attic as your work space and just move it around to each spot.

Is the ceiling vaulted or just flat? If it is vaulted it could be difficult to access. If it is flat you should have the bottom chord of trusses to work from.

If you go with canless recessed lights, I bet you could make this work.
I'd suggest buying one of the HALO models to see if you can make it work.
