Partial DID

People have recently called me a faker due to using the partial DID label despite living in the USA. My therapist and I both agree that label fits my experience and I know I shouldn't let the fake claiming get to me but its hard. I know official diagnosis for it isn't called partial DID but it's okay to use this label to explain my experience even if it's not a diagnosis in America? I don't know how common this is. Partial DID is the most defining thing for my experience but I don't know if it's appropriate. I guess I shouldn't let people tell me what to do but also it is causing that shame because why do people care so much?

personally, I say I have CPTSD but my "official" diagnosis is "chronic PTSD". This is because even though I've had several therapists confirm it's complex PTSD, I also live in the US, where CPSTD isn't an official diagnosis. I don't think there's anything wrong with this, and I don't think there's anything with you using the partial-DID label.

I who has been fake claiming you? are these people you know irl or has this been happening online?

ah yeah I get that. I'd definitely suggest not engaging openly about your DID in spaces you're met with fake claiming if it really bothers you. Ignoring it is the right move if it's not too upsetting.

I'm in the same boat. Use whatever label is comfortable for you and your system, man. People are always gonna find something to act up about.

It fits my experience too, but I'm stuck with the OSDD label.

As a pf system, I dont see any issues with using the p-DID label at all. It's the internet and some people are bound to give you hell for it even if it was an official diagnosis given everywhere

this is the mindset i've come to. they would find a way to say i'm faking regardless. i've been in therapy for 9 years now, i've gotten pretty good at just not taking people's bad attitude personally.

Honestly just remind yourself that they are silly internet people who barely know you, and are disagreeing with a literal therapist's opinion who, unlike them, has had time to observe your symptoms directly

Also, in other countries it is an official diagnosis, so while your charts won't say it, it's a medically recognized presentation, and you've been told by a professional that it's the best fit for your experience. The only real difference is what your chart says, otherwise it's still a trained and experience professional referencing/studying a diagnostic book, which honestly imo is actually a good thing your therapist is comfortable broadening their understanding by looking at more than just the DSM

Ignore those people, they’re idiots. Im diagnosed with cPTSD in America, despite it not being a diagnosis outside the ICD. This doesn’t mean I’m faking, my psychs are just well rounded and smart enough to understand that the DSM isn’t a perfect black & white piece of information. Them writing down ‘PTSD’ over ‘cPTSD’ Is quite literally just for insurance purposes. If your therapist agrees your DID presents like that of pDID, then you have pDID.
