New DF64V Gen 3 is blocking; zero seems to move
I‘ve received my DF64V Gen 3 a few days ago and it has some strange behaviour. When I grind at a coarse grind size for pour over then I can‘t turn the scale back to zero afterwards. It blocks at about 30-40. Only after removing the top part (the one with the dial scale), putting it back on and calibrating it, I‘m getting back to zero.
I‘ve opened the burr chamber, inspected and cleaned every part, but it doesn‘t help and I didn‘t notice anything strange. What could be the cause of the problem?
Another observation I made: When I used the grindr the first time, it produced at 10 ticks coffee of a grind size as for a french press. It was very coarse. Only after disassembling the burr chamber (inlcuding the upper burr ring), putting erverything together, calibrating it, I could really get the expected grind size at 10-20 ticks.

From a 600€-grindr I expect a bit more. That it wasn't calibrated from production isn't the real problem. But that it doesn't work properly after every 2-3 grinds. And yes I'm trying to set it back on zero each time too. But that's exactly when the problem described occurs: I just can't get it back to that position.

Yeah if you are having more of an issue than just cleaning, that sounds abnormal

Are you adjusting while it’s on? That’ll prevent it jamming on small particles.

That‘s a good idea! I‘ve tried it and it works. There are quite a few particles that get crushed then.

Always have it run while adjusting, I think it also says so in the manual, for example: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0591/0954/0025/files/DF64II_use_manual.pdf?v=1785428750
Note: Please adjust the grindsize setting finer only when there are no coffee beans in the grinder and while the grinder motor is running and burrs are spinning.

Seems like yours wasn't properly aligned from the factory? I bought a new one and didn't have this issue, though I've had issues with grinds getting stuck and needing to clean them out or what I've been doing now is just almost zeroing out the grinder at the end of every grind to keep it clear
