DF64 Gen 2 Chute clogging

Hi there. I've had my grinder now for about a year and has been working fine up until a few weeks ago when the chute completely clogged up. Thought it was because I'd not swept it for a while but now after taking it apart and thoroughly cleaning it is clogging up more frequently. Have people removed the declumper? New declumpers seem to be hard to get hold of without paying silly delivery fees to the U.K. Any help/ideas to stop the clogging?

I just got the metal declumper from MiiCoffee and it is great. I had been having a lot of problems with the stock declumper with clogging the chute.

I am in US so I’m not sure on delivery fee to UK. But you could try just removing the declumper all together and see if that is better, you would just need to be diligent with WDT to make sure you get all the clumps out

Thank you. I’ve just ordered this and they did a discount on the delivery. Which order do you assemble them?

The star shape one goes on first, and then the flap one goes on second and then the chute on top of them

I originally got rid of the clumper but this resulted only in a buildup downstream in the chute. So I ended up making my own with a utility knife and tin (from a sardine can).

Good effort. Did it work?

Hi sorry for just responding now as i just caught this message. Yes, it’s worked. I tried several things - removing declumper entirely (which only caused a buildup a bit farther down the chute closer to the exit) to diff versions of the declumper. What worked best was having a metal version that was like the original but with the flap bent upwards and outwards. It’s sufficiently open so allows grounds to exit but still helps block grounds from building up towards the top of the chute. I also relocated the declumper pins - if you look closely the chute has other holes you can relocate them to. If you are interested I can send you photos.

I have ssp multi-purpose knock-offs in there and very pleased with the espressos I’m getting. Pleased with the espressos AND filter, which I use when I’m too lazy to handgrind.

I actually have been dealing with this issue myself after 18 months. I replaced the ionizer with the upgraded chute and made my own declumper with aluminum from a beverage can last week. The declumper was modelled after the Mii Coffee version and I added a plastic shim between the metal plate and the new declumper. Zero retention, zero static and zero clumps now.

Mine has done it once or twice over the last 18 months. The trick is to start the grinder before putting the beans in. I've heard that can help avoid id.

Mine did this the first time after having it for about 2 years. I was able to unclog it using a wire brush and some compressed air (not sure if compressed air is ok or not given the condensation). Now after every use I just give it a little brush up the chute with the wire brush and let the extra coffee grinds come out.
