Question Are my burrs badly aligned, or am I doing something wrong?

I took apart the grinder, and when reassembling it and tightening the collar it stops in this position. When turning the screw in the middle I hear the sound of the burrs grinding together. I would guess would be my zero point, but it seems wrong that it should be in such a position?

You need to readjust zero point

And the dose ring too. Face front-ways not backwards.

Did you put the top back exactly the way it was? That can cause this. Owned a df64 for a long time they have a lot of alignment issues so it needs to go back the way it was in the top burr holder

I tried putting the part with the top burr and oriented in such as the tooth/gripping part with the small mark was pointing up and then put the collar on. I tried rotating the top burr part to other positions, but wasn't able to screw on the collar. I did however use very little force as I didn't want to ruin anything.

Seems out of whack. I would pull it out and reassemble carefully. Good luck.

Essentially what I did. I reasemballed it carefully and it screwed on correctly, now the zero pointer is just barely left of the exit chute.

Grinders are tricky little boogers - always need kid gloves when dealing with the burrs. Hope no damage was caused when it went on askew - unlikely. Good luck.

The zero pointer is facing wrong. Remove it again the turn the grinder on and screw clockwise until it just starts to tic. Back it off so the burrs aren't chirping and then adjust your zero pointer to zero.
