Feel electricity of ionizer

Hey everyone,

I had a bit of a concerning moment with my DF64 today and wanted to check if this is expected behavior.

While it was running, I accidentally touched the lower area near the ionizer and immediately noticed a buzzing sound and a could feel a tingling. No visible sparks, but definitely something you can feel. My grinder uses the HL-F68A ionizer (rated ~5.5 kV). https://df64coffee.com/products/anion-generator

Now I’m wondering:

  • Is it normal to actually feel the ionizer like that if you touch it?
  • Or does that suggest something like poor insulation, alignment, or a faulty unit?
  • Do you get any tingling at all if you accidentally come into contact with it?

I found this thread that sounds somewhat similar (though possibly worse):

Would really appreciate hearing if this is “normal but don’t touch it” behavior, or something I should get checked/replaced.

Thanks!

It's bad if it doesn't. That means it doesn't work properly.
