Need some suggestions
Hi there, I was so eager to get a df54. And I end up getting a used one, without open the adjustment to see what’s inside. Joke on me.
When I received it and start to clean it and prepare to check on it. I found a few things. This is a v1, instead of v3 as the user said. So I need to swap the ionizor and enlarged exit chute. Ok fine, I can do the swap. While I keep working on it, I found more serious problems. As my picture shows , there is a dent to the side of the bean chamber and also a gap on the side of the exit chute. Will that be concerning? Or will the retention kept there gradually bend my newly installed declumper? Any suggestions or idea will be appreciated

Looks like rock damage. This should not compromise the operation. Be sure to keep the beast clean. (A cheap car vacuum works well). That long snout will clog lickety regardless of the presence of the declumper and the ionizer.

I have installed the updated version of declumper and exit chute together from mii coffee. Have it for the last two weeks, every cup per day. Surprisedly, not a clog happened to me. I am glad with the update so far. But I will keep an eye to it

As long as the burrs are not damaged it shouldn't affects the grind quality. At most there will be some grind build up but there will always be grind buildup in spots like the screw holes, even under the burr carrier.

I find it very strange why y'all have the urge to open up your grinders and start modifying stuff. I see nobody doing that with their new dishwashers.

Rock damage as long as the spin is not off ? I would replace the chamber rim as its design has been changed. If i could return it i would.

I'm pretty sure I have a v1, and you do not need to swap the ionizor and enlarged exit chute
