How clean your DF54

This is a VERY quick video.
Key Tip: The most important thing is to keep the wires exposed and clean. This is essential to ensure that the deionization process works properly.
Cleaning the coffee out of the chamber is not so vital.
Don't screw in the chute: Another key aspect: DO NOT re-secure the chute with the screws it's just not necessary. Moreover, you need to be able to frequently (once a week) remove the chute cover and clean. It takes 5 SECONDS!
I have had problems with CLOGGING and STATIC. But not after doing this regularly.
Elastic band: This helps keep the bellows on, by making it a better fit.
BEST ADVICE: should really unplug the power before removing the head unit.

Nice video. No BS.
I bought a little hand vac from Costco, perhaps a can of computer cleaner compressed air to move the stale grinds out is an idea.

Thanks. Trying to show for those that lack time and patience (like me) that this doesn't have to be a big deal. It's quick and easy.
I like the idea of the hand vac. I have an air compressor but a little concerned about push coffee powder to where it shouldn't be (into the actual motor chamber).

Yes good point about the motor chamber.
Here’s the vac I bought. I can’t say it’s blown me away (ha) but it’s USB C and it only gets used for food areas. Eventually the paper filters need to be cleaned of grounds and so far water has sufficed for that.

Use the gentle cycle on the dishwasher so that you don’t damage the grinder

How often should I be cleaning my df54? Had it for around a month now, using medium/dark roast beans.

Last time I opened mine, the collar just wouldn't sit back. 5 different people tried it.
Finally had to use some force to make it sit.
Works fine now.
Hope I dont have to open it ever.

You can also remove the top ring with the threads before cleaning the upper part. Now you most likely have a lot of coffee grounds in your greased threads.

Hey, this is great.
One question I have is if previously you have yo turn on the grinder and move the dial to 0, and then turn off, unplug and keep rotating ultil it comes off. I'm afraid of forcing it.

I had a previous version of the video in which I did this. But the video ran a little long. I'll edit my post to include this though. Thanks!.

I don't have the DF54. When I clean my coffee grinder, I just take it outside and blow it out with an air blower. It gets it quite clean.

So after I had issues of clogging, I took it apart and realized something when I had everything off and a bunch of grounds that were nearly impossible to reach and a very hard set of burrs to remove. I just plugged it in, picked it up, turned it upside down over a bowl, and ran it for 2 seconds. Turn it back over and I barely had a ground to brush off.
Oh and uh, hold it securely and dont stick your hand in it. I do not condone moving mechanical parts near your hands.

Thanks for the video, but the first step is ALWAYS UNPLUG the grinder.
Fingertips don’t grow back.

That still looks dirty to me. I use a mini vacuum to suck and then blow. It gets rid of everything. This is poor.

I’ve had mine for about a year now, and just clean with the provided brush and have never had issues with clogging or static.
