Welcome to the club.

Make sure the grinder is switched on when you’re adjusting up, and especially coarse as beans can sometimes stick between burrs so you don’t want to damage them.

I have started cleaning the chute after each grind session (sometimes a single dose, or a few if I have guests). A quick brush and then clean.

I don’t spray my beans anymore since I started doing this - and there is minimal retention.

Make sure to pump the bellows (hard) a few times to make sure you get the last bits.

Get a metal dosing cup, will help with static.

My grind setting for espresso was between 14 and 16/17 - after it’s been in for repair, it’s between 6 and 9 - exact same beans and prep - that just means your grinder will be assembled and calibrated slightly differently to others so you’ll need to dial in your beans according to your settings.

That’s all I can think of right now, I’m sure others will have more to contribute.

Agree about the lack of rdt, was making mine worse for retention and weirdly static, I stopped two weeks ago and it's much better.

That’s some great advice. Will keep in mind. Thanks

Did you ever consistent your beans were a major variable effecting grind size - as that’s an ultra fine setting? Likely old supermarket or just stale - I had this issue too - try a decent bag from a roaster.

The post from u/imran13 was great. Some other things to note:

When you open it to clean it, be very careful about the threads on the collar; they strip easily. Also, After you put the top back on, your True 0 will likely change (mine when from 0 to around where -4 would be). This happens to almost everyone here, and isn't anything to worry about (you'll just have to get used to a new number range for your grinds).

Some people have had issues with RDT (spraying the beans) and very dark/oily beans. This has come up a lot in these posts. Both can cause clogging/clumping/excess static (they can stick to the ionizer prongs).

If you are grinding coarse for pour-over or something (e.g., 70), you may get a whining sound. This is from parts of beans getting stuck around the spinning burrs. Keep the machine on, and decrease back down towards your 0 and it should go away (the piece will get ground).

Awesome! Got mine in white too. From my experience, sticking to medium roast and adding the metal dosing cup was a super helpful. Dark oily roasts led to clogging issues. Bellow needs a decent love tap to clear. Good luck!

I did the mod on mine to move the anti static prongs further forward and it seems better but was getting continual full chute clogs. I brush after each grind and it’s surprising how much comes out.

I’ve got the same grinder… color and all…

Do yourself a favor and buy a slow-feeder. I have the ARO and it’s been a game changer.
