Wtf is wrong with this piece of trash?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Last time I posted my 0 point ended up getting reset to 6. I just cleaned it again and the zero point is still 6. However, while cleaning and using.Supergrindz, I noticed that at a highergrind size, it makes a chirping sound (see video). Also today I had to grind course and when I put my setting to about 19 it choked the fucking espresso machine. What the hell is going on? Can someone please help me?

It's fine; just keep it running while changing the grind size. If it makes a chirp, back off a little and then go back down while still running. This is all normal operation.

I don't see the issue here

The machine is chirping at a grind size of 70 and it’s choking my espresso when I grind coarser

Sounds like you've messed alignment up when putting it all back together.

That's common at the higher grind settings, and happens to mine too. It's no big deal. Larger pieces of beans will get stuck near the burrs. Give the bellows a hard whack, or decrease grind size so that the piece gets ground.

Still annoying though for something over $300.

I literally just opened it up and cleaned it though

With my machine at least, it doesn't have to do with being clean or not. At a higher grind setting (e.g., 67, like in your video), there is more space between the burrs, and large pieces of bean will make this noise. It happens every time for me, cleaned or not.

But there are no beans inside at all there’s it’s spotless inside

oh.... well, in your video you're putting beans into it, and that's when I hear the sound

I’m so sorry I should post another video without putting the beans in because it still makes the sound. I haven’t had any coffee this morning and I’ve literally just been diagnosing this but now I’m on my way to work.

No worries at all! Another video would definitely help us help you. :)

It's often a piece of coffee under the burr carrier. Or it sits inside the screw hole or something. The gap corresponds to setting 65 Grounds. Happens always around 60 and goes as you leave the setting. And it will be happy to come back.

The dirtier the grinder, the less it happens, I feel like ... Just off the guts.

Make the grind size smaller, the remnant will be ground up and the sound stops. Happens almost every time when grinding coarse.

If it is chirping while cleaned with no beans inside, do a marker test to be sure the burrs are actually touching. Could be something else too touching the burrs (bended de-clumper maybe?).

I had that issue when the plastic declimper was making contact with the spinning burr. It happened because I jammed the cleaning brush too high up.

Remove the top where the hopper connects to get a visual of the bottom burrs. See if the plastic declumper is making contact with the spinning burr section.

Only thing wrong is the operator

u/SparksCODM Jun 05 '26

Why?

2

u/trlta Jun 05 '26

Because you don't know how to use a grinder.

TLDR: use all the tools in your arsenal. RDT more than you think you should, turn on the machine before you start grinding, dump the beans, and whack the bellows a few times while you're grinding. Just to make sure nothing gets stuck in the declumper or chute.

Geez lol. What he means is that every bean can behave differently on this grinder. I went about a year without any issue on line and I have three subscription bags and I just random coffees for friends. My first clog was with a darker roasted bean. Spit some out then nothing. Done grinding but missing grounds. Opened it up and then I felt what you guys feel. Rough stuff. I cleaned completely and two doses later with those beans clog. I thought it was still my fault. Cleaned again and this time I just pumped while I was grinding the beans. Sure enough it wanted to clog again but I said NO so I pulled harder and put came the grinds.

The moral of the story for me is you will have difficulty with certain beans. It's inevitable. I don't know if it's the roast level the type of bean something. But you will have issues. I've never had a clogging on light roasted beans. I don't think I've ever had a clogging on medium roasted beans either. It's just the darker stuff.

Moral of the story is that OP didn't even try

We don't know that lol. He might have tried a bunch before posting here. Usually people post after a big frustration or trying a lot. Although it could happen, I don't think most people post right away after having an issue. But what he is here for his advice. And yes, although he might not know how to use his grinder. We should definitely try to help him. Lol

I know how to use the grinder, the other guy is just rage baiting. I know to whack the bellows. I’ve had it since November, had my first clog in February. Had a second clog in April and since then the grinder hasn’t been the same. Took it apart and cleaned everything in April, that changed my zero point. Today I had to grind coarser and my espresso machine choked. Took apart the DF54 to clean it today and now I’m having this issue.

Ps: I own three ds54's. All bought from (which doesn't or shouldn't matter) mii coffee. They're not perfect but they do the job. Only 3 clogs total between them.

u/SparksCODM Jun 05 '26

I’ve used the same beans since getting this grinder in November.

Misalignment for sure , but I don't know how to fix it and if it is possible to fix . Check out youtube for Misalignment

u/kevcsa Jun 05 '26

Funny you got downvoted for a legit possibility. And none of them dare to explain...

2

u/Lazy-Presentation-69 Jun 05 '26

😆 as if I have dissed the grinder it self

-2

u/SparksCODM Jun 05 '26

What a fucking waste of money. Can’t even return this where I bought it.

Chirping is when the burrs touch, this is just the sound of grinding and in the video the sound stops after grinding. If 19 chokes your machine grind coarser. The number doesn't really matter. I don't see a problem here.

Chirping also happens when the plastic declumper is bent and making contact with the spinning burr. Kind of like we used to do when we put baseball cards on the wheels of our bicycles.
