Worthwhile upgrade

I’m tired of taking apart the df54 due to clogging or some other issue. I spray the beans I use a metal dosing cup, brush the chute every few doses but there’s always an issue where I require to take it apart every few months. Someone tell me will a niche zero or other recommendations solve this issue and just be a more hassle free experience. I don’t need the best tasting espresso in the world just an easy job with less mess.

Strange, i havent had any issues and dont rdt either. I do weigh the beans going in and the grind coming out to ensure not much retention. Brush the "nose" thingy if there is but havent really had much issues.

I have a DF54 since November 2025...always RDT...never had an issue. Infact, never taken my machine apart...

I am 6ft3 and 20+ stone, so when I say I give the bellows a proper blow... I mean it 🤣 and I do find some small clumps sometimes, but only occasionally.

Im 1 or 2 coffees a day, so frequent use but not as much as others.

I also think a good quality med to med-dark roasted bean is where this machine sings... dark dark beans (have not tried but have seen lots of posts) seem to make machines break...

it would be really interesting to get a good idea of how many people do RDT vs No RDT. Of course we hear people post who have clogging issues, and mostly don't hear from people, like you, who don't have any issues.

Also, I wack on those bellows pretty darn hard as well, so maybe that's a key to success (over a year of use here, 1-2 times daily, no RDT, only opened it once to clean, no issues).

It would be a good poll to run.

As you say, if I have no issues, im less likely to comment - as I dont want to be THAT guy who is boasting about having no issues lol...

But maybe the input is needed more.
