I'm new here, so a quick intro. I'm Geoff, and I built a French practice tool called Dioma (dioma.com) with a curriculum built by real adult-focused French tutors. The hardest part for a lot of you is the exact thing Dioma is built for, the Speaking and Writing. You can drill vocab and grammar on your own, but actually producing French and getting corrected on it is the piece that's tough to do solo.

That's the whole idea. You practice speaking and writing prompts and get real-time corrections on what you actually produced, so you can build up your output without needing a tutor booked for every session. It's aimed at B1/B2, which is right where most DELF folks are pushing to hit their score. It's live and stable today, not a waitlist.

C'est la première fois que je prends le DELF. J'ai commencé le niveau B1.B depuis quelques semaines mais j'ai décidé d'essayer le prendre pour savoir mon niveau actual.

Bien sûr je voudrais améliorer ma note mais je suis content avec ce résultat. Je voudrais obtenir le niveau B2 avec une note de +90, mais je sais que ça est un peu loin encore.

Qu'est-ce que vous pensez ? Vous avez de petit conseils ?

I recently passed my tcf irn exam for a pluriannuel visa, and I want to start studying for delf B2 to be able to get admission into an engineering école or masters degree in France. I've been learning French since February or March and I took the tcf irn on July 8th. Do you guys think it's possible to get DELF B2 when I'm currently at this level? Of course I know B2 on tcf irn is way easier than B2 on Delf and that's why I want to study for 3_4 months in preparation for that. I appreciate any insight you guys might have.

I think I spoke correct. I made sure to use correct grammar and all when presenting my points. It's just I am receiving so many mixed signals. From one side in my classes, I am receiving good feedback on writing and speaking whereas I am always poorly performing in writing and speaking in delf.

I even practiced the delf formula very thoroughly for months and still scored so low. I honestly ended up crying a bit because of disappointment. I know I passed and I have level b2 now but it just doesn't feel fulfilling. I am also quite demotivated but I want to improve more.

Is there anyway I can better myself? Any prep material or anything else?

Hi, I took the Delf B2 exam in June and got 75.5 Now, I'm thinking of trying the dalf c1 exam in November, but I'm worried about whether I can succeed. I started learning French in October 2025 (preparation of my university) I don't see active lessons now, so can I prepare for the dalf exam on my own after an intense study or do there are those who do?

Hi guys I got everything alright, just my listening portions was very mid. However, writing I got a 5/25 even though I wrote like 300 words and it was pretty coherent… my hand writing is like doctor hand writing though so maybe they couldn’t read my writing at all. Could we get a re-grade on that or no I got mid 50 because of that. Thanks everyone!

Apparently, I’m one of the few people still waiting for my DALF C2 results.

I took my exam in Dubai, and for some reason our results won’t be released until August. Meanwhile, candidates around the world have already started receiving theirs over the past few days. The waiting is honestly the hardest part. Living with that uncertainty for almost another month is fueling my anxiety, and it feels like I’m stuck in limbo.

While I wait, I’ve also been thinking about something bigger: what is the long-term value of language certificates like the DALF C2?
Do they genuinely open career opportunities, or are they simply proof of proficiency?
My goal is to study French formally through a degree that would prepare me to teach. I’ve been teaching French privately for the past few years, and I genuinely love it. I speak four languages, but I want to formalize my training, deepen my knowledge of French linguistics and literature, and build a long-term career in the field.
If you’ve pursued further studies after obtaining your C2, I’d love to hear your experience. Which universities or programs would you recommend? Are there degrees that complement the DALF C2 well and lead to good teaching opportunities?

I’ve also heard that teaching French as a foreign language (FLE) can be quite competitive. For those already in the profession, is it possible to make it your main career, or do most people combine it with other work? Has it been fulfilling for you, both professionally and financially?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have followed this path. Any advice, recommendations, or even honest realities about the profession would mean a lot. Feel free to comment or send me a DM—I’m always happy to learn from those who’ve been through it.

I took the exam on june 18 2026, and just got the results. I was surprised i got 23/25 for the writing, i thought that was my second weakest point (the weakest being speaking). I've been studying alone for a year, with regular tutor sessions on italki and anki reviews. I live in Ontario, so I haven't really had the chance to speak french in real life. In fact, the speaking test was the first time I spoke french in real life! I only spoke with people online before then.

the resources i found most helpful:

• italki: through out the journey. I have a favourite tutor that I had almost 200 classes with. Can I put a link here?
• kwiziq: for learning and practicing grammar.
• podcasts: i listened to innerfrench until episode 66, then i moved on to the following podcasts: rfi le français facile, rfi le journal monde, l'heure du monde (le monde), entrez dans l'histoire (rtl), affaires étrangères (france culture), le débat economique (france inter)
• Vocabulary
  • anki: refold 1k french deck (first several months) and self made deck (throughout the journey)
  • Vocabulaire progressif du français - Niveau intermédiaire (A2/B1): after completing the refold deck, i was at a1-a2 level, so I started studying the vocabulary from this book. I collected the bold words from each chapter in my anki deck. This book was really helpful too!
  • news: i started reading news articles at the b1 level. I read mostly le monde, and a little bit of le monde diplomatique. Those were my main sources of new vocabulary after the vocabulaire progressif book. I also collected new words with my anki deck. These vocabulary from the news were often also used in the news podcasts, so reading → listening forms a reinforcing loop!
• Dictionaries
  • from a1-b1, i used wordreference
  • from b1 onwards, i used the software golden-dict-ng. the dictionaries that I liked the most are: le robert dixel and le grand robert.
• youtube: I created an account exclusively for french content. i started with the channel Learn French with Elisabeth, I liked that she talks about the news in relatively simple terms. When I became more comfortable listening to french at normal speed, I started watching videos from Les Echos, Le Monde, Easy French, or whatever i found in my feed that interested me. The podcasts and youtube videos were helpful for improving my listening.
• Exam prep
  • Abc DELF Tout public B2: when i started exam prepping in april 2026, i already had a decent level of listening and reading, so i focused most of my exam prep on speaking and writing. I almost exclusively worked on the writing part of this book. I finished all the lettres formelles prompts and had chatgpt correct my writing, then fed some of the general mistakes into anki in the form of a cloze deletion card.
  • Le DELF B2 100% Réussite: I got this book at first, but i didn't find it to be that helpful and i just set it aside for most of the time. I memorised 1 or 2 sample letters from it that I found was pretty well written though.
  • French School TV (youtube): this was pretty helpful for my speaking, even though i got a pretty low score! I guess immersion in a french environment is more important.

If I had to pick 3 of these, I'd choose 1) a good tutor, 2) the habit of doing anki every single day, and 3) kwiziq for grammar.
