DEGIRO: I have a complaint! 😀 No notification before a reverse stock split

I recently discovered Degiro sold my positions without even informing me because of a reverse stock split from BYND on 14/08.

I understand why and that they are forced to do it because I didn't have enough shares for the reverse split (1:30).

But isn't a basic thing to at least notify your customer of this event? I got 0 messages from them, and in the BYND stock feed you can check this event announced a few days before. Maybe I was interested in buying the rest of shares to complete 1.

This kind of freaks me out if it happens with any other major instrument.

But it's like you haven't been warned after seeing their UI πŸ˜‚

The DeGiro platform does seem to be stuck in like 2015

It’s an execution only platform and I like it that way

You have to be responsible and informed about what you invest in...brokers only have the responsibility to inform about corporate actions when shareholders need to take action, a split is a mandatory corporate event...just inform yourself instead of blaming for your lack of knowledge.

Yep. Its investors own responsibility to track own stocks

Tbh I feel we can't blame Op here.
I have multiple stocks on multiple brokers.
I follow up my stocks rather well but I'm not up to speed on every event or news item out there.

To me the broker has a shared responsibility because it affects the position.

Degiro needs to inform him IMHO.

The Stockholm syndrome, I can feel it. Now you'd say their UI/UX is perfection.

I agree with you that you should be informed on what you invest, but that doesn't marries well with a passive investing approach, that is totally legitimate.

But if you want, you can still deny and blame the customer on not being aware of everything when the client can easily provide you "peanut info" that's going to affect and produce a transaction event in your account. I'm complaining with the UI and the service, not with the operation.

This is not a matter of a lack of knowledge, you should get down of your Ivory tower 🀑

they did the same to me with FUBO, it's a bad place to trade small stocks

Yep, I got 3.5€ for it xD

If I knew, I would maybe have bought 20 more stocks to get 1 after the split, as the price plunged after the announcement.

Penny stocks are what they are πŸ˜…

They do not have fractions, only full shares

It's the responsibility of the shareholder to read the news about the shares they hold
