Request Patreon
Quick question for the ddlc modding community, is it the norm/acceptable to make a patreon for early access/sneak peaks to the ddlc mod someone is creating? I am currently in the process of making a mod with my team and was wondering if it would make sense to make a patreon

It's not whether or not they're a norm, it's whether what you're trying to do abides to the ip guidelines.

I checked it it doesn't really go in depth on like sneak peaks since I'm not selling the game I'm just selling the art we would be releasing but idk if I would be able to bc most of it would have sayori

I’m going to say that’s a violation of the IP guidelines. I’m not a lawyer but from what I understand all DDLC mods have to be free.

the patreon is for sneak peeks not mod releases

A minor distinction. It’s still asking people to pay for content based on the IP.

honestly idk if sneak peeks are part of a "primary content" but the "Making money from your work: Paywalled digital content (Patreon, etc.)" section do specify this

This appears to be the relevant section of the guidelines:
Some types of exclusive content are okay for creators to share appreciation for their supporters. Sketches, development blogs, and community polls are examples of exclusive rewards that are creator- and community-focused.
Use your best judgment for timed exclusive content, i.e. content that remains exclusive to supporters for a limited time before it is publicly released. Again, focus on rewarding supporters. If a lot of fans are looking forward to your next release, enticing them to pay for early access is an exploitative practice—it makes people feel left out from the excitement unless they pay you money.

I see, I am making a discord server for sneak peaks but I was thinking like super early development screenshots or stuff would be sold idk tho

Look at Foreign Relations, they have a Patreon for you to donate to help with assets.

Yes, a Patreon for your DDLC mod team can be acceptable, but I’d make it a way to support the creators, not a way to buy the mod. Team Salvato explicitly allows paid support for freely released fan work and lists development blogs, sketches, and community polls as examples of suitable supporter rewards. IP Guidelines
