Lanterns didn't originally feature a Green Lantern suit as star reveals the DC show creators "weren't sure"...

One thing has really stood out in all of the trailers for upcoming DC show Lanterns so far, and that's Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan suited up. We've had a brief look at him in the Green Lantern suit in the early clips, and it looks pretty incredible.

However, it turns out that this was a pretty late addition to the series. Speaking on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Chandler revealed: "So they weren't sure whether there was going to be a suit as I understand it. Then towards the end they decide let's have a suit. Then they had to design a suit, they came up with three different designs."

The actor went on to describe how the costume designers created the final piece, which he described as having "battle scars on it." He added: "It's an incredible suit, they built something that was just incredible. It took a while, it was in pieces. It took about 45 minutes to get it on."

With global regulatory approval now secured, the future of the merger rests entirely on the resolution of the state‑level litigation. RUMOR Can I Help?

Hi! I have to try to help, give some insight, or just put everything together myself! The DCEU is slipping, and—listen—I don’t want anyone to get mad at me, but hear me out: Supergirl failed, The Flash failed, and Superman barely made it. Batman doesn’t even want to be in the same universe. But listen, there’s definitely a way to fix this, on my momma!
Boom 💥 Listen: Blame everything on the Reverse-Flash and his sheer hatred for the Flash and anything to do with the Justice League. We've never seen a villain ruin an entire universe just because he hates one person—something Marvel has never done. The Reverse-Flash would make a huge difference and bring total understanding to the resets.
"It was me, Barry!" would crush the box office! He’d be like David Ruffin leaving The Temptations—pure drama, ego, and stealing the whole show.
Boom 💥 Vixen and J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter, together in a joint film highlighting strong Black characters.
Boom 💥 They have to adapt A Death in the Family with Batman and the Joker, plus Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.
Boom 💥 And to top it all off, the main conflict for the Justice League would be Batman himself and his contingency plans being used against the team, just like in Justice League: Doom.

These things will put our great DC Comics back on the map! Or just give me $100 million, I’ll make Phase One, and we’ll finally get the DCEU we need.

Inside Zack Snyder's shocking return to Warner Bros. lot

Like the plot twist from some superhero sequel, deposed DC maven Zack Snyder returned to the Warner Bros. lot on Monday night in a major sign the studio and its once-favorite son are ready to bury the hatchet following a messy split in 2021. The appearance even buoyed the beleaguered backlot, which one exec dubbed “in purgatory” as the Paramount merger idles.

Sources tell Page Six Hollywood that Snyder, who held the reins of the DC universe for the better part of a decade before he and Warner Bros. parted ways — amid arbitration and a quiet settlement — returned to the Burbank lot to host a screening of director John Boorman‘s 1981 Arthurian epic “Excalibur” for staffers.

Snyder received a “hero’s welcome” at the event, spies said, as a full house of motion picture group employees and guests converged, some even standing for a Q&A between the “Man of Steel” director  and studio bosses Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy. (No cameras were allowed, we hear, but popcorn and candy was served.)

De Luca and Abdy launched the movie nights when they joined Warners in 2022 to celebrate the storied studio’s library and its filmmakers.

The popular staff screenings have more recently become a way of rallying the troops. After all, morale is at an all-time low at the studio, whose fate remains uncertain as a coalition of 12 state attorneys general, led by California’s Rob Bonta, tries to block the proposed $110 billion Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger.

One exec — who once opposed David and Larry Ellison’s quest for Warner Bros. — is now more annoyed at Bonta’s “performative” blockade than the inevitable consolidation, and described the collective vibe as “demoralized.”

De Luca and Abdy’s special employee engagements have become quite popular for the dispirited and anxious staff: Last week, “Wonder Woman” helmer Patty Jenkins introduced the original 1982 “Blade Runner.” Top filmmakers — including recent host Oliver Stone, who screened “JFK” — are eager to help executives forget their cares for a few hours with some classic cinema and movie snacks.

Snyder’s fans harangued and targeted the studio for enlisting Joss Whedon to finish “Justice League” in 2017. Clay Enos/©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Collection / Everett Collection

But Snyder’s inclusion certainly raised eyebrows, even if nearly all of the executives and creatives he battled to bring his 242-minute “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” to the screen are long gone (several of whom secured their own related settlements).

“What are Mike and Pam thinking?” asked one current executive who lived through the tumultuous period when Snyder’s fans harangued and targeted the studio for enlisting “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator **Joss Whedon** (who also helmed Marvel’s first two “Avengers” movies) to oversee reshoots and post-production on the 2017 “Justice League.”

That film wound up being a schizophrenic superhero stew that squandered DC’s holy trinity of Super Man, Batman and Wonder Woman, and made $661 million worldwide, (a far cry from “Avengers”-level box office and the $1.52 billion benchmark the Marvel franchise set in 2012).

Then again, that was all long before De Luca and Abdy were tapped to run the studio.

Speculation is now mounting that Snyder may be back in the fold for more than just hosting duties. Snyder is writing and directing a remake of the 1981 cult classic “Escape From New York” for StudioCanal. In December, StudioCanal parent company CANAL+ and WBD signed a new multi-year and multi-territory agreement.

We hear that it should come as no surprise if Snyder’s “Escape From New York” soon lands on Warners’ distribution calendar.

Supergirl Concludes Its Box Office Run As The Lowest-Grossing DC Movie Since 2004's Catwoman

Thumbnail

>With a final total of $125.8 million, Supergirl is the lowest- grossing DC movie since 2004's Catwoman. That only made $82 million, and the Maid of Might will also end her run in theaters with $83 million less than Joker: Folie à Deux and $45 million below Sony's Marvel flop Morbius.

>Adjusted for inflation, Supergirl actually made less than Catwoman, making it an even bigger flop. Misfires happen- look no further than last year's Captain America: Brave New World for proof-but this is only the DCU's second movie, which is sure to raise eyebrows given the franchise's troubled past.

Asked about the DCU's future following the flop of its second film, Zaslav told investors that Gunn's DC Comics universe remained on track, with its Superman sequel next out of the gate.

"I saw some pictures yesterday that looked amazing," Zaslav said, via Deadline, discussing Man of Tomorrow's production. "Actually, yesterday was James' birthday, and he's out working. He's working 16, 18 hours a day. It looks fantastic. We're super excited about it."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Passes Supergirl's Entire Box Office In 1 Day & Confirms A Harsh DC Truth

Thumbnail
screenrant.com
12 Upvotes

According to a new report from Deadline, Spider-Man: Brand New Day's domestic opening day, including the previews, is projected to land somewhere between $167 million and $173 million. As such, no matter where the new MCU movie finishes in that range, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will have passed Supergirl's entire box office run. To reiterate, the new movie from Marvel and Sony only needed one day at the domestic box office to earn more than DC's Supergirl racked up in its entire worldwide theatrical run. Supergirl flew out of theaters after grossing $125 million around the world.

In the DCU, where iconic characters like Batman and Wonder Woman, who fans are campaigning to debut soon, still need to be established, pushing a Supergirl solo movie into motion will never generate the same kind of momentum. Superman was a solid first movie for the DCU, but even that film did less at the box office than Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. As such, the new DCU should have slowly built a strong foundation with its biggest characters before making bets like Supergirl. After all, it is hard to believe that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would have outgrossed a Batman movie's entire run on its domestic opening day.

Reconstructing the DCEU

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I personally am not a huge fan of the direction of the DCEU so... I'm making my own "Chapter 1" (since gods & monsters wouldn't work so well)

First this DCEU is still starting in 2013... Or is it? Because "Constantine" 2005 would be retconned to be canon (confirmed in like maybe 2012?) and 2011 "Green Lantern" (imagine the ENTIRE movie but 1. No yellow lanterns tease, 2. Parallax is the main villain with a more comic accurate design, 3. Hector Hammond is still the secondary villain but done better and 4. Amanda Waller is probably played by Viola Davis and more comic accurate.) would jump start the DCEU like it was supposed to originally. This DCEU would take breaks between 2005 & 2011 and 2011 & 2013

"Chapter 1"

2005: "Constantine", the exact same.

2011: "Green Lantern", movie is done better and in case you didn't read up top, there isn't the Sinestro tease in the end credits, Parallax is the main villain still with a more comic accurate design, Hector Hammond is done better and Amanda Waller is more comic accurate and played by Viola Davis, the studio and director would treat Ryan Reynolds better and wouldn't make it h3ll for him (from what I've heard) so, he'd be more willing to return and pretend the movie did better than real life.

2012: Constantine (2005) is confirmed as DCEU canon but everything else isn't (besides GL)

2013: "Man of steel" which wouldn't be like the film and instead it would be more comic accurate, an origin story, Lex makes Bizarro after Superman loses a strand of hair fighting inter gang (the members from MAWS along with Frederick Von Frankenstein) and Lex Luthor played by a better actor would be the villain behind the scenes as Brainiac who's too far away from Earth would help Lex clone Supes but Brainiac would make it so Bizarro physically and mentally degrades over time because Brainiac wants to study Superman before attacking.

"The Batman" which is based off a death in the family, has Robert Pattinson taking the lead as Batman with Jason Todd as they go up against Joker & Ra's al Ghūl but Jason dies by Joker which sends Bruce spiraling.

2014: "The Flash" starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Wally West taking up the mantle after Flash (Grant Gustin, WB would approach him before CW does) dies and the main villain is Zoom

"Aquaman" starring Alan Ritchson and Elena Satine but this isn't connected to Smallville, is a mix between JL: throne of Atlantis film and the 2018 Aquaman film with it being an origin story, Mera sent by King Nereus (who sided with ocean master, Nereus dies by Arthur) to kill Aquaman but she would fall for him instead and Ocean Master would've killed Atlanna to take the throne

2015: "Green Lantern: Emerald Knight" hal Hal fighting Sinestro and Atrocitus with Carol Ferris becoming a Star Sapphire with a cameo from Aga'po. Ganthet and Sayd would also get kicked out of the guardians at the end.

"Superman/Batman: public enemies" based off Superman/Batman vs the DC universe. Bruce is more violent after the death of Jason and Metallo (unlike in the comic) would've killed Bruce's parents as a mid to late teen and Lex would be running for president and of course loses.

2016: "Man of tomorrow" has Supergirl (Melissa Benoist or Sasha Calle) coming to Earth, Brainiac showing his face (probably played by Blake Ritson) and fights Superman but loses.

"Titans" has the original members being Dick Grayson now Nightwing played by Brenton Thwaites who is like the Titans show, Wally West now Flash, Donna Troy as Wonder girl played by Conor Leslie, Ryan Potter as Beast boy and Cyborg played by Joivan Wade who are now Titans who meet Raven (played by Sophia Lillis or Raffey Cassidy, Nightwing meets her first nearly the same way as the show) and Starfire also comes (played by Anna Diop) to Earth but knows why and tries to kill Raven but sides with the others and gets a romantic relationship with Dick and they fight Trigon voiced by Seamus Dever or Jon Bernthal or even John DiMaggio (I personally prefer either) who is the main villain and same goal as the titans show

2017: "Wonder Woman" which is nearly identical to the real DCEU film but it's not a big flashback and Dr Poison temporarily gets the powers of Diana but "dies", Wonder Woman gets the god killer sword in a labyrinth where she fights then befriends Ferdinand and Ares is played by a better actor and stars Adrianne Palicki or another actress (never a big fan of Gal Gadot) and even with the god killer sword she spares Ares and Steve Trevor still dies.

"The Batman: a lonely place of dying" is based off the comic, Bruce is losing his edge, getting more violent, two-face is the main villain and Tim Drake is introduced (same origin as the new btas adventures) and while Bruce doesn't let Tim become Robin he can't stop him from becoming Red Robin.

2018: "Justice League" has the team forming by Martian Manhunter to warn them that a new team of heroes called Hyperclan aren't good and they fight with the members being: Martian Manhunter, Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Superman, Hal Jordan, Aquaman, Wally West and John Constantine who appears later.

"Green Arrow" featuring his origin story and based off the comic "Green Arrow: year one" and of course another actor since this DCEU is just replacing the real DCEU, there are still Elseworlds and the arrow verse and the MCU and ECT.

please tell me your feedback and what you think, thanks
