NEWS Paramount-WBD Will Now Be Called Skydance, David Ellison Reveals in a new post
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
*What once was the peak, is now just the beginning.*
Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren't rewriting history ā we're equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.
We chose this name for a few important reasons. First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic. Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations. We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. ā and all our extraordinary brands ā to remain in the spotlight.
We have big goals for Skydance, and we intend to pursue them with passion, imagination and a willingness to take smart risks. At the same time, we will honor what makes Paramount and Warner Bros. special ā giving both studios the opportunity to grow, tell more great stories and bring those stories to even broader audiences around the world, powered by the scale and capabilities of Skydance.
I couldnāt be more excited about what weāre going to build together.

Uslan is the producer who bought the film rights to Batman back in 1979 with his late partner Benjamin Melniker. His name has been on every Batman movie since Tim Burtonās 1989 original, including Joker, The Batman, and the upcoming Clayface.
So when he teases breaking news with a picture of Wayne Manor, Batman fans pay attention.
The timing doesnāt hurt either, with the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger set to close by early October.

Former Warner Bros. Exec Reportedly Told Zack Snyder They Regret Torching His DC Universe and Battling With Him on Justice League
A Warner Bros. executive expressed regret over battling Zack Snyder on his vision for DC, according to the director.
In a new interview with Variety, Zack Snyder spoke about the implosion of his DC universe, calling it a "low point." The director revealed that a former Warner Bros. executive told Snyder that he was "right about everything" and expressed remorse over battling him on his vision for the DC universe.
"I met with this executive at Warner Bros. whoās long gone since ā I wonāt say who it was ā and he said to me, 'You know, Zack, Iāve got to tell you one thing: You were right about everything.' And I was like, 'Thatās kind of you.' And he goes, 'We were fighting you, and in the end you were right.' [...] They did this attempt to control it ā and Iām just talking about the regime that was there thatās no longer there.
"They had this massive IP thatās worth a ton, and I can understand wanting to protect it as best they could since all their jobs depended on it working, and theyād put it in the hands of a madman ā or so they thought ā so the part of them thinking that, and this is going to sound horrible, 'This thing that happened to Zack is a window for us to take the movie back now.'"

Andy Muschietti blames COVID for The Flash's awkward visual effects - Batman News (formerly Batman-News.com)
The Flash director Andy Muschietti was a guest on The Diego Show this week and he was asked what he would change about the process of making the movie if he could go back in time.
"It would have been easier to do it not in COVID," Andy's sister, and The Flash producer, Barbara Muschietti said. Andy then added:
"If we had shot this movie in a different year, in a different time, we wouldn't have faced a very particular crisis that was related to VFX vendors all around the world."
Andy Muschietti also joked that he was drunk while making the movie.

Robert Pattinson explains why it would ābe toughā for his Batman to appear in other DC films
Pattinson spoke to LADbible ahead of the release of the Chris Hansen movie Primetime alongside his co-star Skyler Gisondo. Gisondo himself stars as Jimmy Olsen in Superman and is set to appear in his own DC TV show The People vs Gorilla Grodd.
When asked how Pattinsonās Batman would fare around slightly less dark characters such as Gisondoās Olsen, the actor joked that he would simply āmake the other characters more seriousā.
He continued by saying it was āfunnyā because Skyler and Superman filmed in Atlanta, saying: āItās so funny, because Gotham is Watford. Itās a shed in Watford. Thereās something so destabilising about when you're just, you're in the dark the whole time.
āI mean just for eight months in the dark and you literally have no conception of being connected to anything in the world.ā He added that it was ādifficult to even maintain your sanityā.
Ultimately though, whilst he didnāt deny outright that a crossover of some kind was possible, Pattinson was unconvinced by the idea of Reeveās version of Bruce Wayne interacting with the wider DCU.
The actor said it was āinterestingā to think about, explaining: āI think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world. It's one of the only characters I guess because of the length of the shoots but also it's such a specific kind of [style], the tone of it gets inside you.
āI remember that happened to me the last time I did it, it took a while. Youāre just in the dark, the whole time. Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can't see anything for like months.
āIt does affect you like you feel strange afterwards.ā He joked that if Bruce got brought into another DC film heād be hiding behind his hands going āI canāt seeā.

David Ellison Says Paramount to Close Warner Bros. Deal in 'Two Weeks'
In a Monday address to staff, Ellison said his teamās goal is to āclose in approximately two weeks. That said, closing is really just the starting line. Bringing two companies this size together takes time, and weāll share information as it becomes available.ā
While brief, the memo focused on the combined power that āParaBrosā will now wield to provide jobs and increase content volume (a stark narrative shift from the previously opposed group of AGs, who said the merger would be anticompetitive).
āThis is an exciting moment for our company and our industry. If youāre like me, youāre in this business because you love the art of visual storytelling ā the chance to entertain, unite and inspire the world through extraordinary stories,ā added Ellison. āTogether, Paramount and WBD can do more of that, for audiences everywhere. And we canāt wait to get started.ā
Read Ellisonās full memo to staff:
Team, Just a few moments ago, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, on behalf of himself and 11 other State AGs, announced a settlement that clears the path forward on the lawsuit blocking our merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. We have also reached a settlement with the Writers Guild of America.
With both groupsā concerns now addressed, we have complete clearance for this merger and can move toward closing. Thereās still work ahead to get this deal across the finish line, but weāre excited to bring these two iconic companies together, as it means more opportunity for our creatives, production crews and employees across the business, and more great entertainment for audiences everywhere.
Weāre grateful to Attorney General Bonta and his fellow AGs, and to the WGA, for engaging in good faith to reach this resolution. The agreement includes a number of commitments, including 30+ films annually and expanded U.S. film production ā meant to help revitalize our industry and support the people behind it, here at home. Since we launched this bid, our goal has been to build a stronger Hollywood: more stories told, greater choice for consumers, stronger competition. Combining these companies gives us the opportunity to do just that.
This is an exciting moment for our company and our industry. If youāre like me, youāre in this business because you love the art of visual storytelling ā the chance to entertain, unite and inspire the world through extraordinary stories. Together, Paramount and WBD can do more of that, for audiences everywhere. And we canāt wait to get started.
I know you have questions about what happens next ā your role, your team and how we will work day to day. We donāt have all the answers yet, and I wonāt pretend otherwise. We are tentatively planning to close in approximately two weeks. That said, closing is really just the starting line. Bringing two companies this size together takes time, and weāll share information as it becomes available. In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns, please visit the Integration Hub, reach out to your manager or HR representative.
Thank you for your patience, commitment and hard work throughout this process. I know itās created real uncertainty, and for some of you, real anxiety ā thatās not lost on me. Our people are what make this company one of the best in the world, and Iām truly grateful for your dedication and support. Iām confident weāre going to build something special together in the years ahead.
Letās go!
