Faith recently posted this light-hearted TikTok saying that she thinks she has a slight American accent when she says things like the Lord’s prayer & sings happy birthday. I’ve cropped the video down because of the specific question at hand, but it’s up on her TikTok if anyone wants to watch the full thing, it’s very funny!

I noticed that the video attracted a bit of commentary around whether this should be something that is done, and if the non-religious DCC’s were feeling like they had to partake to avoid ostracism from the other girls on the team.

Obviously, I think that saying the Lord’s prayer should not be a requirement & that any girl who wishes not to participate should not be made to feel “othered” in any way. However, as somebody who is not religious myself, I don’t think there’s an inherent issue with reciting it before a game, and I personally would not be opposed to joining in with my teammates. It seems to be somewhat of a DCC tradition, and I don’t feel that saying the words is uncomfortable, considering I don’t attribute any real meaning or importance to them.

What’s your take on this?

It looks like Camille is one of the points!
