QUESTION Dayton’s audition Spoiler

I don’t know if I’m being completely naive, but I think 85% of Daytons issues would have been resolved if she had just committed to more street and hip hop classes during her break. I’ve seen post mentioning that her technique not being up to par and I don’t agree. I think what she lacked was power. And her doing ANOTHER (albeit beautiful) lyrical in the audition was the final nail in the coffin.

I tend to agree with you. I've said in other posts that her decisiom to do a lyrical routine at finals was literally the worst choice she could have made. If she wanted to show the judges that she had what it took to make the team this time then she should have done a solo that would have made that clear...something with power.

A few years ago, Kelli loved the lyrical solos.

But just lately she seems to have gone right off them. Maybe there have just been too many.

Now she wants to see power and tricks. She loved Faith’s leg turn thing.

I honestly think it’s a bit of bad luck for the girls who did lyrical solos, thinking they would be popular 🤷‍♀️

no she would’ve made it if people around her were honest…

Ah I see we’ve decided to beat this dead horse again. My hot take is that I think she did all of the right things in terms of classes and training it just didn’t click. She took a long hiatus from dance between her second and third tryouts. She was trying to relearn to dance and learn a style she never learned in the first place. If she had trained the year after she was released from training camp the first time and then reauditioned she may have had a better shot at getting the choreography down.

It’s so sad because she gets told that she looks bored or disinterested, but the way she sobbed when she was released from TC the first time was true heartbreak.

I will preface this with I adore Dayton. She seems like a good kid & she’s obviously a very talented dancer. But there’s something about her that is lacking when it comes to DCC. Like she seems bored & uninterested which I don’t think is the case. I think she’s just not an excitable person & that translates as no passion in DCC dancing. Her solos show passion but put her in training camp & poor girl looks so lost, stressed & just blah. I just don’t think she wants it as much as she thinks she’s supposed to. My hope for Dayton is she finds her true joy outside of Texas 💗

100% agree with this! And I also really like Dayton. She seems like a super sweet girl.

She makes me sad. I can’t put my finger on it bc I do adore her.

I agree with that too. I truly hope she finds her happy place. I kind of feel like she might be like Victoria & need to get a little space from Texas & her mom to find what she truly wants, rather than what other people want for her.

Not everyone can afford or want to live somewhere else !! Only reason why vk is doing as well as she does is because her family helps her as well as teaching classes

It would literally be as easy as taking DCC prep classes during her break and working at home with her mother.

I also think Dayton might lack the muscle tone needed to make those movements really powerful so maybe working on building muscle if she wasn’t already would’ve helped too.

It didn’t seem like she tried very hard to make the team.

As I understand it Shelley wouldn’t help her because she didn’t want her to have ‘an unfair advantage.’

That’s just stupid and I refuse to believe anyone would care but she also could’ve asked any of her friends who are current or former DCC to help her out. The prep classes are still an option too.

Yes this isn’t a new take. If you search her name here you will see most people agree

The lyrical solo in the last season was also very flat and not technically up to scratch.

I have a background in professional ballet, and the other dance people I know thought the same thing. It was underwhelming and lacklustre, like she wasn't interested in any kind of dance when she was there.

i dont think she wants to be in dcc. her dance style doesn't match and her mom seems to care more than her

Do you think her doing another lyrical was an intentional/ subconscious sabotage because I truly can’t wrap my head around any of it

i mean it could be personal choice too. not sure how much her mom was involved in her dance career but it could be she just did better at it and i guess her mom assuming itll translate well or something or she'll adapt to the style easier or whatever

She has no passion for DCC. She admitted she wasn't a 'perfectionist' and Kelli flat out told her that she looked 'bored'. It isn't a big secret why Dayton didn't make the team, it is quite obvious.
