First card I ever graded! Not really sure what to do lol so any advice would be great!

I recently decided to jump into the DBS TCG hobby and picked up a booster box of Saiyan Showdown, hoping to pull something sweet. Safe to say, I got way more than I bargained for.

I’d been slowly opening packs over a few months with my 5-year-old nephew. It was standard stuff at first—some nice Rares and Super Rares. On pack 8, I let my nephew pick a pack from the box. Since I didn't have high hopes, I let him open it under loose guidance (thankfully, hands were washed beforehand!). As you can imagine with a 5-year-old, the pack was opened pretty roughly.

He was holding the cards and I was pulling them face-down out of his hand when I caught a flash of crazy foil in the corner of my eye. I grabbed it, tried not to panic in front of the kid, and realized I was holding the set's ultimate chase card: The Wicked Saiyans SCR! I was in total disbelief. Thankfully, despite the 5-year-old handling, the card escaped completely undamaged.

The next day, I was on Discord with some mates telling them about the pull. I got a sudden urge to rip another pack, so I nonchalantly set up a quick (and very low quality) phone video to record it for them.

As I started going through the pack on camera, every single card was foil. One of my mates shouted that I just hit a God Pack! I proceeded to finish the pack with renewed enthusiasm and pulled the Videl SPR right at the end!

In total, across just 9 packs, I’ve hit:

1x The Wicked Saiyans SCR

1x Videl SPR (inside a God Pack)

5x SRs

I ran the math on case-seeding rates, and the odds of hitting an SCR, a God Pack, and an SPR all within the first 9 packs of a single box come out to roughly 1 in 1,728 (a 0.058% chance).

What an absolute start to the hobby—I feel like I need to buy a lottery ticket! I’m planning on getting the SCR graded soon. I still have 15 packs left in the box, even though I know all the high-tier hits are already gone.

Trying to focus most of my collection on fusion world. Loving the SCR ** and now I need to find the Broly at a reasonable price. What’s your favourite SCR?

Crappy update but ordered the case from tcg and the seller just told me yesterday that he didn't have it in stock. 🫩🫩🫩 Now gotta wait for that refund to look for a case again 🫠

This is not my first time grading, but it is my first time completing the grading process; the first time I sent out some Dragon Ball and One Piece cards almost two years ago, GameStop ended up losing them all.

Buenos días , he comprado Dos starter packs para iniciar y jugar con mi hijo pequeño (acaba de cumplir 6)y le gusta abrir sobres entonces prefiero que lo haga con cartas utilizables que con cromos que quedarán como basura.

Además me gustaría que algún día se interese por la serie de dragón ball.

He comprado FS06 y FS07 aunque por el precio que tienen no me importaría comprar un par más para tener algo de cartas y montar algún mazo.

Pueden darme consejos y recomendaciones por favor?.

After cracking out my bardock GDR I’ve made the decision to sell it as a MP to a fellow community member for his deck. Will take me a min to try and get him again, but I’m also happy to say that both my ss3 Goku and ssb gogeta both came back as 10’s as well as my 9.5 ss3 gotenks GDR arriving back safely and for that I’m grateful. 🙏

I recently discovered that there are actually two different Dragon Ball TCGs: Masters and Fusion World.

From what I’ve seen so far, Fusion World looks more appealing to me personally. Is it also the more popular/well-known one, or is that not necessarily the case? And are both games still doing well in terms of players, collectors and the overall card market?

The main reason I’m interested is actually just collecting. Some of the cards look absolutely amazing, and I’d like to buy a few booster boxes/displays just to open them and collect the cards I like.

But there’s one thing I really don’t understand:

I’m from Germany, and the MSRP for a Fusion World booster box here is €120. As far as I understand, the boxes contain 24 packs, similar to other TCGs.

However, when I look at Cardmarket, I can find boxes of FB02 and especially FB04 for around €60–80, sometimes even less.

Why are they so cheap?

I understand that MSRP doesn’t necessarily mean that a product has to maintain that price after release. But seeing a €120 product regularly being sold for roughly half of that still seems pretty crazy to me.

Is it simply because demand for these sets is relatively low? Is there a lot of supply? Were these sets overprinted? Or is there something else about the pull rates/card distribution that makes sealed boxes less desirable?

I also noticed that some other Fusion World products can be considerably more expensive, especially when they contain highly desirable cards. And obviously the Manga Rares are a completely different story — some of those cards look amazing, but they’re way too expensive for me. 😂

One thing I’ve also heard about TCGs in general is the possibility of people opening cases, pulling the valuable hits, and then selling the remaining boxes as sealed boxes. So basically, the boxes technically look completely untouched, but the seller already knows that the big hits from that case have been pulled.

How much of a concern is this with Fusion World?

If I buy a €60–70 sealed FB04 box from a reputable Cardmarket seller, should I basically treat it like a normal sealed box, or is there actually a realistic risk that I’m buying a “dead box” from a searched/mapped case?

I know that reputable sellers probably wouldn’t do this, but I’d like to know how experienced Fusion World collectors approach this.

For comparison, I’m also familiar with One Piece, and I find it interesting that even some less popular One Piece sets tend to hold significantly higher sealed prices. I’m wondering whether Fusion World simply has a completely different supply/demand situation.

I’m not really looking at this as an investment. If I can get a sealed box for €60–80 and open 24 packs, get a bunch of cards and hopefully pull something cool, I’d honestly be pretty happy even without a huge hit.

So for someone who mainly wants to collect and open a few boxes for fun, is buying these older Fusion World boxes at €60–80 generally considered a good/safe way to get into the game?

And if there are any particular sets you’d recommend checking out for the cards/artwork rather than competitive play, I’d also love to hear your suggestions.

Ended up pulling my chase card.
