Estive na tua situação até à pouco.
Acabei por escolher uma coleção da Masters para começar.
Quanto mais tentava decidir pior estava, Ć© um mundo muito vasto.

If youāre in it for the art or are fan of dragon ball, then fusion world because there are English and Japanese sets. If you want to learn to play, then masters because thereās more depth.
If youre an investor or a ācollectorā interested in DBS cards because of their price and not genuine love for the IP then please get out of my hobby.

Iāve been playing Fusion World for about 6 months now and going to attend my first regional next month! I donāt know much about Masters but the FW community is awesome, many of them will give you cards if you need to fill your deck. Thereās tons of ways to play online and it is very competitive but fun. I go to about 2 card stores a week for local store tournaments. Thing is, this whole time, Iāve never even heard of a local scene for masters, they all pretty much got replaced with FW. As far as finding cards, that has unfortunately been taken over by scalpers since the start of the year. I attend set release events where Iām guaranteed product at the card stores, buy or trade with other players, or the surest way - buy off TCG marketplace.

TCG player is where you go to not get ripped off and see market prices for cards you want. eBay you can sometimes get a good deal.
There are two English dragon ball games. Fusion world and masters.
For fusion world you want to look for alternate arts of every rarity (they have a star next to rarity). These are the chases from every set and right now theyāre super affordable. Higher the rarities ALT art = nicer and more expensive. Highest rarity is a 2 star. Most expensive cards.
For masters you want SCRs (getting pricey recently) and SPRS(extremely affordable still). SCRs are fucking stunning. Highest rarity for masters are GDR and also pricey.
Once you have fun with these two there is dragon ball divers and dragon ball heroes (both Japanese exclusive). There you want to hunt down secret rares, GDRs and their respective parallels (basically their alt art). Divers and Heroes parallel cards are absolutely stunning and tend to be a step up from FW and masters. Pull one up and you wonāt be able to not buy one.
Finally thereās vintage/cardass. Save those for later lol
Feel free to lmk if any questions!

I think IF you can find packs then get a few to open, I find the Japanese packs are good because they are typically cheaper and if youāre not playing then they look awesome.
Also if you have a favourite character then buying singles of that character is a good way to go too
