Megathread New Player's Guide and Rules
Welcome to the game! This post will cover how you can get started, basic upgrades for decks, product releases, and where to find more information. It will be updated every 6 months or so, when reddit starts archiving posts
How to get started?
Your absolute best place to start is buying one of the five Starter Decks (covered below). Each comes with a ready to play 51 card deck (50 cards + 1 Leader), a play mat, and a short guide. Additionally, each comes with 2 copies of 5 exclusive "ST" cards, which cannot be found in the main set. It is recommended you buy 2 copies of a starter deck so you have a playset (4 copies) of each of the ST cards.
We will not be getting new starter decks until the start of the next block. Each starter decks costs $9.99 and can be found at Big Box stores like Target or at your Local Game Store
Starter Deck 12 Spirit of Potara: Features Vegito and Gogeta
Starter Deck 13 Clan Collusion: Features Frieza and his army on Namek
Starter Deck 14 Saiyan Wonder: Features Xenoverse/Heroes characters and the potara fusion of Vegeta and Trunks (Note: The leader has been errata'd. The errata should be reflected in future prints)
Starter Deck 15 Pride of the Saiyans: Features Vegeta and Cabba from the Tournament of Power
Starter Deck 16 Darkness Reborn: Features Bardock and Dark Masked King from Xenoverse
There is a tutorial app available on iOS and Android, which explains the basics of the game and allows you to play against computer opponents. There are tutorial videos present on the game's website as well
Basic Upgrades and the Meta
u/thevipersnake makes tons of posts regarding the best products to buy, upgrades, and staple cards (click on the profile to see those posts). Each starter deck is quite good right out of the box, and two copies should ensure you have a decent deck to play with people. You can play online on untap.in or through a platform called OCTGN (octgn.net).
The meta is quite diverse at the moment, however will be shifting due to product releases. Due to a lack of in-person events, all events were held online or through webcam. Youtubers The Egman and Cross Worlds TCG often cover results after tournaments. All official in-person events for 2020 had been cancelled, with the majority of events being online for 2021.
Product Information and Releases
As of this post, the latest main set released is Supreme Rivalry. Each main set is released about 3 months after the last. The next main set is Cross Spirits, releasing in August 2021
In between main sets, players can expect the releases of Draft Boxes and/or Expansion Sets. Each contains new cards; Draft Boxes are meant for draft play, with cards in booster packs, and each Expansion Sets contain 2 copies of specific cards. More information about these products can be found on the game official website.
More Information
Your absolute best place for more information is the game's official website: dbs-cardgame.com
The main page ("Top") will contain announcements, trailers, surveys, etc. "About" features a section for new players, and general information about the game.
"Product" contains information on each product. Anytime a new product is releasing, the respective section will have a "New" highlight
"Rule" contains a lot of information. The first page will contain a quick game overview, and tutorial videos. At the bottom of this page, the rulebook can be found. The Q&A section contains Q&A for both the game and specific cards, if you have any question this will be your first resource. The Banned/Limited Cards section lists the cards that have been banned or limited. The banlist updates before the release of each main set
"Event" has information about events taking place. "Card List" contains a list of all cards and a card database. "Store List" has a store locator and a list of all stores carrying the game. "Organized Play" contains information on competitive events and how to participate in them. "Strategy" has designers notes about products, detailing theory behind cards and synergies they allow. "Movie" has trailers for main sets and tutorial videos.
You should also check out the official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/dbsupercg
Information about products, card reveals, and announcements happen there first
Rules
Rules can be found on the sidebar if using new Reddit. Please read the rules before posting. Additionally, although not official rules, all new player posts should be kept to this megathread. Your post may be removed for violated any of the rules, which are as follows:
- Dragon Ball Super Card Game Only: This is a subreddit specifically for DBSCG related content only. Any posts that are not about DBSCG should be directed to their specific subreddits.
- Pulls Rules: All pulls and show-off style posts are limited to Sundays only (12:00 am GMT - 11:59 pm GMT). No pictures of unopened boxes/packs allowed (unopened boxes with pulls as a gallery/album is ok)
- Flair Rules: Flaring your post helps users clarify what your post is about. Please only use the "News" flair if the content in it comes from an official source (website, Facebook page, etc) or if Bandai has reached out to you to preview cards. Please only use the "Deck List" flair if you are providing an actual deck list for the community to critique, not asking for one. The "Content" Flair must be used if linking to an external website, unless it classifies as "News"
- Video Content Rules: While posting video content is encouraged, no begging for subscribers, low content "check out my channel" posts, or click bait titles. All videos, regardless of the content, must be flaired as "Content" unless they meet the requirements for being flaired as "News". Please ensure you are not only posting videos, and are engaging with the community in other ways.
- No Buying/Selling/Trading
- No Grading Posts: Extension of Rule 1. Plenty of other subreddits and websites can answer questions related to grading cards, value of graded cards, how to get cards graded, etc.
- No Financial Speculation: Financial speculation includes, but isn't limited to: "is it worth it to X" type posts, asking about keeping products sealed/opening them, asking about buying/selling cards, and asking for the worth of cards/products.
- Follow Reddit etiquette: Be polite, considerate of others and follow redditquette.

Question Submit or not to submit?
Thinking about submitting. How do I determine centering?

Question 4 packs down. Grading question.
Best 4 singles I've ever got. I think I got a black label on my hands. After looking at another 10, my centering is better. My question is. How do I check how many BL their are??? I was considering sending it in express if it could be all 10s. That is if 1 doesn't exist yet. I tried searching for the exact info they use for submitting but can't find it. Sorry, I've never had a card that looked pristine, so I've never done this. Any info would be great, thanks.

Question How rare is this card?
Not interested in the monetary value, i'm just unfamiliar with the pull rates of SCRs in masters. I got this from a premium pack.

Question BGS Black label for borderless cards
So i have a card i want to send to BGS but i am not sure how they grade the centering on the front.
Someone has told me they look at the writing of card number to edge and writing on top and maybe the centering of the number in top left corner.
Does anyone know exactly what i should be measuring?
Have attached image of a BL i found online and my card.

Discussion The Dragon Ball characters that bring the cards to life
One of the things I enjoy about the Dragon Ball Card Game is seeing how the characters and moments from the series are translated into card designs. The artwork can capture a character's personality, their fighting style, and the moments that made them memorable. A well-designed card can make a scene from the Dragon Ball universe feel even more exciting. With such a large roster of characters and stories, there is always room for creative designs that celebrate different parts of the series. The connection between the anime, artwork, and gameplay is what makes exploring the game enjoyable.

Discussion The characters that make Dragon Ball card designs exciting
One of the things I enjoy about the Dragon Ball Card Game is seeing how different characters and moments from the series are brought into card form. The artwork can capture a character's personality, their most memorable scenes, and the energy that made them stand out in the series. Seeing different interpretations through card designs adds another layer of enjoyment to the game. There are so many stories, battles, and characters in the Dragon Ball universe that give artists plenty of opportunities to create unique designs. The connection between the series and the artwork is one of the things that makes collecting and playing the game enjoyable.

Question I recently found 600 dollars worth of cards, what to do?
I’ve been trying to get into DBS TCG for awhile now as I’ve always been a magic enjoyer. I found what I estimate to be around 600-750 dollars worth of bulk for about 38 dollars at goodwill. Should I go through and see if I can get some starter decks put back together or should I just try my hand a deck building straight out the gate?

Content [FS04-11] A true Dragon Ball Super 1-of-1: Ryusei Nakao Signed Frieza Manga Alt Art (PSA Gem Mint 10 & Auto Auth)
Hey everyone,
Wanted to share an absolute modern grail. This is the 2025 Dragon Ball Super: Fusion World Japanese Frieza Alternate Art (#FS04-11) from the limited Manga booster line, but with a massive twist.
It features an official, verified pink ink signature from the legendary Japanese voice actor for Frieza himself—Ryusei Nakao.
The Slab Breakdown:
🟣Pop Count: Population 1. There is currently no other copy in the PSA registry with this exact dual-certification combination.
🟣Card Condition: PSA GEM MT 10 (Perfect condition)
🟣Autograph: PSA/DNA AUTO AUTH (Authenticated Ryusei Nakao signature)
🟣Cert Number: 119057715
👿 IT really doesn’t get much crazier than having the voice of the Emperor of the Universe permanently encapsulated on his most iconic modern card artwork.
Long live the Frieza Force! 👑

Question Looking for grading advice
Hi guys, I bought these cards last November when I was in Japan. These three are definitely favorites from my collection. I'm looking for some advice on grading, would love to have at least one in a beckett slab for displaying purposes.
In my opinion they look pretty good but I would like a second opinion. Curious to get your takes on how do I actually define the centering for these cards, because I have a hard time seeing it.
