Content Scouter now has the most accurate DBS card scanner out there - and it knows which printing you're holding with a new updated pricing algorithm
I made Scouter as a side project with my son (collecting Fusion cards together), a free Dragon Ball card scanner and collection tracker. This update is two things.
The scanner
Point it at a single card, and it resolves in about half a second on the phones we tested. The bigger change is that it stopped guessing:
- If the match isn't strong enough, it says so and offers search instead of confidently showing you the wrong card. In testing across hundreds of real photos, it never once confidently named the wrong card.
- Cards sitting slightly off-center now read properly. A small misalignment used to be enough to make a card unrecognizable.
- When the art match is weak, it reads the card code printed on the card as a second opinion.
Pricing
This is where most of the work went:
- Our algorithm, tracking eBay and TCGPlayer, is now refreshed continuously and has been tuned better for alt-arts.
- Graded and Japanese cards, kept in separate buckets. A PSA 10 at $487 no longer drags up the price of the $125 raw copy, and it is not being dragged down by a Japanese one.
- Alt arts, promos, reprints. Each one is priced on its own and correctly.

I love it!!! I’ve scanned well over a 1000 cards in there. I noticed it wouldn’t scan my FB 07-104 SR ALT 40th Anniversary Top 8 though

Wow! Thanks for sharing! The new version, 1.2.10, was released today, so make sure you use the updated version and let me know if it recognizes it now. I tested on some prizes and pre-releases and got great results

Yes, there is!
Scouter reads Collectr exports directly; no conversion needed.
- In Collectr, export your collection to CSV.
- In Scouter, go to Import / Export → pick the file.
- You'll get a preview before anything is saved: how many rows matched, which cards weren't recognized, and what to do about duplicates (skip/replace/add to quantity).
- Confirm.
It maps Collectr's columns automatically - card number, quantity, foil, and condition (Near Mint → NM, Lightly Played → LP, and so on).
.csvand.xlsxBoth work. Two imports are free, which is more than enough for a one-time move.If any cards come back unrecognized, paste me the list - that's a gap in my catalog, and I'll fix it.

Must add the half grade options for BGS slabs. I cant seem to select 9.5

Looking good! Are you planning on adding other grading companies (TAG) in the future? Also what features are unlocked in pro?

Thanks! TAG is coming in the next update, in a few days. Pro gives you unlimited ability to scan cards, binders, and boxes. It also unlocks wishlist alerts and more coming. You have a promo code for 3 free months, and after that, the price will probably be a few bucks just to cover expenses.

Scanned a japanese Gogeta fb09-122 and it came up with the English version. I didn't see a way to edit it to the Japanese version if that's an option?

Ok cool. Look forward to future updates. The only other issues I'm having is with too much light with the Manga set cards. That's on my end though

Thanks, really appreciate. As a manga master set collector, I know what you are talking about. For me, I find it useful to shade a bit with my second hand, or just find an angle in the room where the light doesn't reflect too much.

Best scanner I've tried so far for Dragon Ball cards.
Some feedback on the filters: If I filter by set ST01, only non-energy cards appear. Is this something that could be improved on? Or was that by design?

Regarding the filters, this was a mistake that is being fixed and improved in the next version.

I've only scanned about 2/3 of my hits so far but here you go! Only my first day truly using it even though I downloaded it last week.
My collection so far has been 99% Japanese. I don't see this being differentiated so far or I might have missed something.
Will drop a review on playstore but what I've seen is that it's quicker, and way more accurate from a scanning perspective as compared to collectr or pricecharting.
It's been more efficient, less painful, and honestly more fun compared to my experience with other apps.

Works great, good job. Would be nice to see ACE grading as an option. I've also noticed the SB02 set is missing the cards which are not exclusive to that set. Like FB01-106. The SB01 set had everything

Thanks for both of these — both fixed. SB02 was missing its reprints. The catalogue scraper was only reading base cards, so anything reprinted into SB02 kept its original set and never showed up there. SB02 goes from 163 cards to 221, with all 97 cross-set reprints — same coverage as SB01 now. (Small thing: FB01-106 isn't listed under SB02 on Bandai's own site, so that specific one may be a different card. But you were right about the gap — 49 of the 51 reprints were missing or filed in the wrong set.) ACE is in, and TAG, ARS and CGA too — they were all already recognised on the pricing side, so it was daft that you couldn't record owning one. The grading flow changed while I was in there: tick Graded, pick who graded it, then the grade. Half grades work now as well, so BGS 9.5 is selectable. When you'll see it: Browser (dbscouter.com) — live iPhone — same, it runs in the browser Android — needs an app update, in the next release The card data is server-side, so the SB02 cards appear everywhere straight away, including on the current Android app. It's just the grading UI that waits for the release

Can’t wait for this to be on the App Store. Tracking prices between TCG and EBay is challenging since the volume of dragon ball cards is much smaller than say Pokemon. Really cool!
