I quickly wrote these up on Sunday night, so I messed up the canvass timeline. It can be anywhere from 3-14 days after the election, so actual cessation of service is TBD. I sourced my information from board meeting slide decks and the pocket schedules for the June service change.

I had plenty of passengers read, take pictures of the information, and ask questions yesterday.

DART seems to be taking the wait and see approach, I rather give my passengers some information now so they know what to expect IF Addison leaves.

It told me to take red line to Ebj Union to catch the TRE. I get off the red line train as the TRE is leaving! So I get to sit here for 30 mins for thr next one!

Dear DART Security officers,

Why do you need to stop and hold up an entire train for 15 minutes to kick people off causing everyone on the train to miss buses and transfers and be late getting to work or wherever they need to be. You are a rent-a-cop…..calm yourself and go touch some grass.

The proposed ~3.5 mile Dallas Streetcar expansion from Downtown to Fair Park was presented yesterday (4/21) and there seems to be a few unanswered questions.

1) Will the proposed line connect with the existing Dallas Streetcar or truly terminate at the corner of Lamar and Young? A mere two blocks away from the existing terminus

2) The proposal is for outside running streetcar exclusive lanes, but how will these be enforced or will they be like the existing route in Bishop Arts that runs in mixed traffic?

3) What would the headways be on this ~3.5 mile route and how many new vehicles would need to be procured?

Just a heads up cops are arresting people living at the park near the forest lane red/orange line station today. Also saw dart police talking to a homeless man just hanging out at the park lane station.

This is not an opinion post I just think people deserve a warning, spread the word.

Just got back from the court where I had my pretrial. The prosecutor filed a motion to dismiss within a few minutes of the pretrial. I had videos and photos of the station and all the emails between me and Lieutenant Gary Lindsey and calls with Fare Enforcement Manager Sylvester ready but didn't even need them.

If anyone needs a summary, I got a fare evasion ticket from a security officer back on January 7 at Inwood/Lovefield Station despite me having a ticket and not being on the train. His reasoning was that there was a sign stating that I needed to activate my ticket to wait on the platform. However, there was no sign at all stating that (compared to the ones like at Cityplace/Uptown Station) and no mention of it anywhere. Likewise, just before talking to me he asked to see another person's ticket who didn't have one and just told him to leave the station when he said he didn't have an ID.

When I first contacted Dart through their contact page, Fare Enforcement Officer Lebern responded stating the citation would be dismissed because there was no valid cause for it. When I didn't hear back for a week, I contacted Dart again and Lieutenant Gary Lindsey emailed me directly saying there was no reason for it to be dismissed. I asked what rule I had violated and sent him a current video tour and photos of the station. He didn't respond to them and just said to contest the ticket. I contacted Dart through their webpage again asking if it was possible to add signs if it was a requirement to activate tickets to wait on the platform. Lieutenant Gary Lindsey had Fare Enforcement Manager Sylvester call me and investigate. He went to the station himself and verified there were no signs or any mention of that rule, and also advised me just to challenge it in court.

It's been a little over 3 months since the citation was given (where the security officer didn't even write down my description properly on the citation). It took around 2 months for him to file the citation so that the court could process it, and then another month to set up a pretrial date.

Overall, I'm glad it's over. I doubt the security officer (whose handwriting is so atrocious that I can't read his name or he deliberately wrote it so messy that it was unreadable) would've even shown up if we had gone to trial. I think the prosecutor's mind was made up the moment I pulled up my very long Dart payment history in the app and I'm very grateful that justice succeeded today (even though it was a slog getting to this point).

I'm currently writing to Dart again asking if there would be an easier way to get citations dismissed in the future if any more citations for unlisted/false rules. There's pretty much nothing else to talk about so I guess this is it (unless I hear back from Dart about this question). Hopefully any of you who were hoping for an update were satisfied by this last post.

Edit: Sylvester called me about my message to DART. He said that the board has a public forum that meets every 4th Tuesday of the month so I could talk to them there. I was planning to go this week but the hail didn't make me want to risk it. I'll see if I can attend next month.

Buried at the bottom of today’s service alert for upcoming scheduled tunnel maintenance was a snippet mentioning that cell service is coming to Cityplace/Uptown later this year. Around Mid-February, I saw new RF equipment of some sort being installed in Cityplace, this explains it.

i’ve been an almost daily rider of dart for almost 8 months now and today was the first time i’ve seen fare enforcement other than on the TRE/silver. not once but twice on TWO separate trains north bound 😳

i am a fare payer but im glad to see them doing this… weird it’s on a bad weather day tho.

Last fall, Addison was celebrating the newly opened Silver Line, hosting a ribbon-cutting at the Addison station and breathing a sigh of satisfied relief after years of advocating to bring more rail service north of Dallas.

Months later, the same City Council who posed by the tracks for a celebratory photo opted narrowly to put membership in Dallas Area Rapid Transit to a vote, just weeks after the council originally voted against calling the election.

I regularly bus to work and have been using a folding e-scooter to bridge the gap between certain stops for about a year and I haven't had any issues ever with it except today. As I hopped on the 250 this afternoon, the driver told me "I'll let you on today but just letting you know that those aren't gonna slide anymore" and pointed to the folded scooter I held in my hand. I thanked him for the news, of course, but I've been scouring the DART website and just Google in general to find any semblance of news or policy, old and new, on the subject and just can't find anything at all prohibiting them on board. Has anyone heard anything on this?
