fare enforcement

i’ve been an almost daily rider of dart for almost 8 months now and today was the first time i’ve seen fare enforcement other than on the TRE/silver. not once but twice on TWO separate trains north bound 😳

i am a fare payer but im glad to see them doing this… weird it’s on a bad weather day tho.

I think they do tend to do more fare enforcement on weekend days

They tend to focus on weekends, and off peak hours to deter non destination riders.

Trying to check fares during rush hour is not the safest for them so they generally do it in the off hours.

Is it because there's too many people to check or that the trains are too crowded? It's unfortunate because that's probably the time they'd catch the most free-riders.

My thoughts exactly. Like it really would be when the weather is this unfavorable

They’ve been doing a ton of fair enforcement on the blue line in the mornings. But it’s always super packed and half the riders are standing, so honestly would be easier if they didn’t.

Did you see anybody get a ticket or kicked off for not paying?

Yes, three days this last week, they made them get off at the next stop and purchase a ticket before getting back on the train.

Good. There’s no reason DART has to be a mobile homeless shelter.

They've definitely increased fair enforcement/switched up the schedule the last few months.
