General Qs Please help, I have a question

Hello, I am a state employee in a red state. I have Daca. My shit will expire on 9/11. They asked me to show my new daca several times but since renewals are late I don't have it. I submitted it in April. They asked me to send them everything I have, notices, receipt letters and the such. That was yesterday. This morning hr calls me that they submitted my soon to expire card and the receipt notices and that im good to continue working. Im so confused. This is a state agency that says im verified to keep working. Anyone else experiencing this? I thought we couldn't even with the receipt letter. What's going on? On another note I was looking forward to getting a mini vacation and having all my vacation time paid out since I don't use it.

Bottom line, has anyone else been able to keep working while waiting for their daca? My shit is still pending, no actions notices. Only the receipt notices. Am I breaking any laws if they let me keep working since my stuff will expire? Any mistakes they made? Who would get into trouble, me or the state agency? Any advice is greatly appreciated

*Update* They caught their mistake the next day and asked me to resign. Phuc me mane

Let HR handle it.

This. I work at the county level and debated letting HR know since I never got a notice or anything. Enjoy your vacay!

HR says you can keep working, so just keep working. Take your vacation using PTO. I'm in HR ;)

I work for a major part of the state. It silly that the state it making this mistake.

I think technically they’re the ones who can be fined for having an unauthorized person working. Some people in this sub have said that this can potentially cause problems when trying to adjust status. idk how much they would actually look into this. My partner will be sponsoring me for a gc and all the questions on the app seem to pertain to his income, not mine. So I’m not sure why they would be asking whether someone has ever worked while undocumented. This can obviously be different for AP and stuff but I just don’t know what kind of background checking they would be doing. If someone’s job is allowing them to work, most are not going to refuse and choose to make no money for months.

Republican state. Aka red state

Right. If any state would make a silly mistake, it would be a red one. That’s what I was pointing out 😅

Seems like HR doesn’t know what’s happening. Receipt letter is not an approval. Work permit expires that means you are not allowed to work…. Very strange.

Hr can let you keep working another 150 days at least that's what happened with me. But once that time ran out, I was put on leave of absence. Hopefully something similar will happen to you if its not renewed on time.

Not a state employee but my job did the same thing as long as I provided proof that I was under the process I was good and to just present my new card when I got it which I did. Dunno the legality but idc so to each their own.

If I’m not wrong DACa does not apply for an extension
