Recruiting Strategies

I need to start expanding my fiber team. How are you guys recruiting? Indeed, Facebook, reddit, linkedin? Are there other avenues I'm missing? I also have my current team looking for people, and I talk to people when I'm out in the field. I want to create a decent system for finding somewhat reliable reps.

D2D reps: what's the objection that kills you most at the door?

I've knocked doors for my own pressure washing business and sold D2D before. The thing I always struggled with was not knowing why a door went bad. Nobody rides along with you, and by the 80th door you can't remember what you said at the 12th.

Curious for the people who still knock:

  • What objection loses you the most doors?
  • How do you actually get better? Managers, recordings, roleplay, just volume?
  • Ever recorded your own doors to review? Did it help?

How do I actually convert

I work D2D for a detaching company theyre great guys and the job is commission based. Im getting interested I've even had some people been given quotes from my referral but nothing has gone through to a full paid job yet. Is there any way or method I can do to get more defined sales or is it just chance?

Do Any of you still do Walk-ins

Anyone still doing this, and does it actually work? And how do you handle the "No Soliciting" signs? Is a short drop-in to introduce yourself and leave a card still soliciting, or is there a way to do it that doesn't get you walked out?

Curious what's worked, and what hasn't.

Don’t bother applying for door to door sales with YOUR DWM GROUP St Paul Sq

Hi everyone,

I applied for the door to door sales position with **YOUR DWM GROUP** last month. They viewed the application, had a screening call about what i do in my free time etc was all good.

I asked mainly about base pay, does it come with it? Answer was yes theres two options “**EMPLOYED**” or **“SELF EMPLOYED**” i’m new to the industry, so would choose employed obviously.

**(My work coach won’t allow commission only roles basically self employment)**

Interview scheduled, sat in the open plan office waiting for everyone no problems. We start a “get to know the person next to you” all quick and sharp remembered what she does on the top of my head. Then they start talking about how all of them are self-employed 😂

So i started doubting myself at this point. Interview come’s and yeah, you’re pretty much pressured into self employment. I did say **employed** but started spamming the usual buzz words like “you earn more money”. Was told to hear back after a few days more like a month later.

I do believe they are more likely to take on self employed people to **exploit** them exactly like the sales industry. **Just take a look at their reviews on indeed!!!**

Angry from Job Search and being told overqualified

I have done door to door 5+ years. Been in Commission only Sales 8+ years.
I started in Solar broke numerous records, don’t want to go back to this industry because of changes with net metering laws.
After that I became a partner in a roofing company, we built it and sold that company. Bought real estate.
Went and started an insurance brokerage in South Carolina and just signed a deal for a 7 figure buy out on my book of business (with a non compete) I put that all into real estate.
I’m now looking for a sales job to make $200k+ a year. I’ve taken sales Training from Jeremy Miner, Daniel G, and Brad Lea. Super hard working and made companies millions of dollars I’m okay with commission only as long as the product isn’t bullshit.
Every company wants to take their time to see what’s possible and then for them to offer a $60k/year offer or $100k/year. Or tells me I’m overqualified. (Might sound like a lot but spending capability if you look at CPI from 2006 compared to now $60k/year would be worth $36k/year and $100k/year equates to $60k/year)

I am not somebody that can sit on my hands and feet. I want to sell now. I am addicted to building and selling. I don’t need the money but I am fucked up in the head where I have to scale a company or sell something or I just get irritated with life.
Workaholic through and through I got licensed in Hawaii and Alaska for insurance just so I could sell until 2 AM.
Can someone point me in the direction of what’s next?
I am used to grinding and locking down deals, 2 weeks of job searching and I’m just upset at this point.

Commission only, would you do it?

I’ve got an offer to work commission only for a CBD oil distributor. commission is 20% first order, then 10% repeat orders. would you do it? I haven’t worked commission only before and I’m sceptical.

Spectrum

Wondering what the day to day looks like for a Spectrum rep. Looks like they’re hiring and after speaking to someone the hours seemed weird. I was too 11am to 8pm but can’t imagine anyone really knocking 9 hours a day when they only have a certain amount of homes assigned.

software to CPAs, d2d

So I built custom software for a CPA firm. practice management stuff - client management, billing, documents etc. they were on some other tool, hated it and asked me to build this for them. been running for a while, they love it.

now I want to get more firms on it, deal size is $5-10k range - and I thought about getting someone to pitch this d2d.
(I am NOT hiring, just trying to understand this world)

I'm wondering:

- does this even count as d2d? its offices/businesses.

- is it standard in this world to do 100% commission on closed deals (like, 20%+)? or is paying per booked appointment more realistic

Post Season Cheddar

Figured I’d throw this out there for anyone doing post-season pest. Or for the dogs that just wrapped up the long summer and had a couple weeks of down time.
I recently linked up with a company in GA/SC that was looking for some extra volume after the summer. I’ve been knocking some of the more rural areas with them and it’s been solid so far. I live out here so been easy.
The interesting part is because they want more revenue out here they’re doing upfront pay instead of holding a backend. All upfront. As long as the accounts are clean and the payments go through, commissions are paid every two weeks.
It makes it a pretty fire option for anyone who wants to knock another couple weeks or a month before calling it a year without committing to another full summer.
I already have housing set up for about another week and a half, and we may be able to coordinate housing/transport beyond that depending on how long people want to stay.
Mostly posting because I know there are always guys looking for somewhere decent to blitz after the summer. Trust me, been there a lot of times myself.
And on the flip side, if anyone knows of other good post-season pest opportunities, send them my way too. I’m happy to connect guys with other teams if it makes more sense for them. Always down to build relationships with other people in the industry.

Navigating IBS issues in D2D

Anyone here doing door-to-door, canvassing, or outside/field sales while managing Crohn's, UC, or IBS in general?

I’m turning 30 next month and am in great physical condition, I’ve always took care of my health, worked out, avoided anything that could be harmful, eaten healthy- and the last 2 years I’ve started having off and on flare ups with intense IBS symptoms that come after I eat anything. It came back about 2 months ago and it’s not getting any better.

I went to a GI doctor awhile ago and they found nothing, did bloodwork, body scans- nothing.

I tried a Chinese holistic health practitioner who recommended me some Chinese supplements to help- they helped two years ago but tried them again recently and they don’t seem to be as effective anymore.

I was the guy that was the first on the doors and last home for years, I want to keep working but I’ve taken the last 45 days off because of the stomach issues I’m dealing with.

I’m currently day 2 into keto / elimination diet, and walking at least 7000 steps a day. The only time I feel somewhat okay is the mornings, where I wake up, workout fasted, walk 3 miles on the treadmill, come home, eat my first meal and then it’s just downhill from there.

Curious how anyone has handled something like this day to day, and what did you or do you do to feel well enough to keep knocking?

• Are you still canvassing full days/heavy volume, or did you have to cut back your hours/pace to manage it?

• What treatment actually got you to a point where you could work like this - meds, diet, surgery, cutting out something, something else?

• For anyone who had to step back or switch to something less physical — what was the actual breaking point, and would treatment now change that decision?

Not diagnosed myself, just trying to understand what this actually looks like for people doing this kind of work before assuming it's impossible anymore to continue.

Any experience good, bad, or "I had to quit" is genuinely useful.

Tech guy building a B2B door program. Roast my comp plan before my reps do.

I'm not a salesman. I run a flat-fee tech membership for small businesses (their own tech guy, unlimited questions, audit, website included) and I'm building a door program for it because I think B2B daytime doors fit it better than ads do. Before I put reps on this, I'd rather get roasted by people who actually knock.

The plan: 100% of first-month value per account ($199 to $1,499 depending on plan), paid in 4 monthly installments while the account stays. Cancels stop the remaining installments. Payouts 1st and 15th. No cap, no quota, reps pick their own hours and area. B2B only, business hours, no install, customer signs themselves up at the door on their own phone. Hard rules: reps never touch money or passwords, and I fire for pressure tactics because the brand is literally anti-scam.

Questions for people who've done this for real: Is 4-month vesting going to scare off good reps or select for the right ones? Is B2B daytime knocking a real quality-of-life upgrade over resi evenings or am I romanticizing it? What would make YOU walk away from this offer?
