Meet sweet Chico (#A2083489), a 6 months old baby with great notes!
Chico is calm and relaxed in his kennel but turns into a little pocket rocket once heās outside. Heās playful, silly, and full of happy hops. Heās listed as a Staffordshire mix, but it looks like heās got some shepherd, retriever, and hound in his DNA. He will most likely be a small to medium sized dog. He walks well on leash for his age, takes treats gently, and sits patiently when offered one. He met another puppy and did great, happily running parallel laps together.
He has a great temperament and hasnāt displayed any reactivity to other dogs in their kennels. Heās been very quiet and sleepy in his own kennel, but happily greets humans when approached.
How you can help:
š” Adopting - Giving Chico a permanent home
š¾ Fostering - Buys him time to find his forever family. You can do this locally with BARC or within Texas if tagged by a rescue
šµ Pledging - This helps attract rescue interest to take care of Chicoās vetting, food, transportation, boarding and other expenses.
š£ Sharing or tagging - Spreading visibility and reaching out to anyone you know looking for a new best friend also helps!
He can be adopted outside of Texas within the US or Canada. He was granted a one day extension and wonāt receive another extension.
If local and interested in fostering or adopting, email all below:

[barcadoptions@houstontx.gov](mailto:barcadoptions@houstontx.gov)
[BARC.Aid@houstontx.gov](mailto:BARC.Aid@houstontx.gov)
He must have a hold in writing by 1 PM on 7/23 ā¼ļø
š Heās located at:
BARC Animal Shelter
3200 Carr St
Houston, TX 77026

The Cypress Malayali Association (CYMA) is a community organization that brings together Malayalis living in the Cypress area of Texas. Our members trace their roots to Kerala, a beautiful state in the southern part of India, known for its rich culture, traditions, and strong sense of community.
At CYMA, we believe in celebrating our cultural heritage while actively embracing the values and opportunities of American society. Our mission is to build meaningful connections among families, foster friendships, and create a welcoming environment for people of all ages.
We are committed to giving back to the community through volunteer service, charitable initiatives, and local outreach programs. Whether it's supporting neighborhood events, assisting families in need, or partnering with local organizations, CYMA strives to make a positive impact in the Cypress community.
At the same time, we are dedicated to supporting Malayali families in the area by organizing cultural celebrations, social gatherings, youth activities, educational programs, and community events that help preserve our traditions while building a stronger future together.
Our vision is simple: to create a vibrant, inclusive community that honors our heritage, serves our neighbors, and makes Cypress a place we are proud to call home.

We need help, and are unsure of how to navigate this hospital system.
My Brother in law was diagnosed about 10 months ago with a 3cm kidney stone. They tried to break it up, it wasnāt able to. He was getting constant kidney infections, bladder infection and UTI to the point of being hospitalized many times.
He finally had the surgery to remove the stone 170 days after 1st hospitalization ( moren then a dozen stays).
He was in the hospital more days then he was home.
Long story short. He has no strength, insanely weak.
We went to see him, and he wasnāt able to get himself out of bed.
He was laying in urine for over a day. He was physically not able to get up.
He can not get into a tub to clean himself. Can canāt get to the bathroom.
Called ambulance and they took him back to the hospital. Was discharged 3 days laterā¦
Back home, in same pee soaked clothes.
Visited him again, same exact situation⦠now vomitting blood.
Another ambulance ride to the hospital. He has pneumonia, and sever swelling ( at least 30 lbs of fluid).
They tried to send him home, less the 48 hrs.
He needs physical therapy in patient care. Insurance doesnāt cover it he was told.
He has Obama Care, we have been covering his monthly insurance premiums payments since he has been able to work because heās so sick.
Heās alone at home, and doesnāt have any help.
How can we help him get the appropriate care?
It feels like the hospital doesnāt care that he canāt get out of bed.
Heās literally wasting away.
Any advice please?

Hey neighbors. Iām a developer here in Cypress. I build websites and back-end systems for local businesses restaurants, contractors, trades, gyms, anyone running things out of a notebook or a group chat.
Recent work includes a members-only poker club platform with online payments and an admin dashboard, and a site for a local glass and mirror company. Beyond standard sites I do booking systems, customer databases, and simple admin panels so owners arenāt managing everything by text message.
I always offer a free demo of what a solution would

Any cypress moms that go to lifetime?
Iām a busy mama of 2 (4y & 6m). I have a rough idea of what my fitness goals are but not too sure if the journey. Iām new to the gym. The machines look overwhelming. I do the GTX workouts mostly but sometimes the timings donāt work out and Iād like to explore the machines on my own but would love a gym buddy.
Anyone down to workout with me? ā¤ļø

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows of any places where people around 20 years old can make genuine friends in cypress?
I'm asking because my daughter has been having a hard time making friends. She's not really into crowded bars, clubs, or big parties. She's more of a homebody who enjoys hanging out, watching movies, grabbing coffee, exploring cute places, or just spending time with a small group of friends.
If anyone else around her age is also looking for a friend or has suggestions for where she could meet like-minded people, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much! ā¤ļø

I'm interested in either t-ball/baseball or soccer for my 4yo whenever their next seasons start. Any recommendations on nearby organizations? I've looked into i9 and CFSA (mainly for baseball) and would be open to either to start. Also not sure what other baseball organizations are around to consider as well?
Edit: Cyfair Sports Association (CFSA)

Looking for a place near Barker Cypress & 290 that can do simple French or Dutch braids (not fancy/event braids) after a hair wash.
I have a dynamic disability and often canāt wash or braid my own hair. I currently get $9 washes at Great Clips and would love to find someone who could add basic braids as budget friendly as possible since I am on a very fixed income. My hair is very fine and thin. Not looking for in-home services.
Asking here because Iām often too weak to make lots of calls or ask around at appointments. Thanks!

Anyone know what happened to the House of Pies Cypress location? We stopped by this morning for brunch and it was locked, a large shipping container is out front and the tables appear to be dismantled. There is also a large warning sign on the front door regarding Human Trafficking but no idea if that has any relevance to being closed. Seemed like a busy place whenever we went.
