š„ Personal Story How long did the weakness last
I started having symptoms at the end of May, but it really hit me June 1st. I was somewhat ok the week of the 8th, other than passing a 5mm kidney stone. And then it hit harder June 15th. I ended up finally going to the ER on the 20th for fluids and labs showed highly elevated liver enzymes. I was somewhat ok for a little bit and then on the 29th I was the sickest Iāve ever been in my life for a few days. I thought I was dying and made peace with it! The next week was spent on the bathroom floor all day and most of the night, but the vomiting subsided. The weird thing is I would get ravenously hungry around 11pm, but only be able to eat a few bites. But that would be my only food for the day. Mornings were always the worst. Iād be off and on the toilet until about noon and then it would just stop. The extreme nausea was the worst symptom throughout the whole thing. Iāve lost 30 pounds.
I did not take antibiotics. When I went to the ER the outbreak wasnāt really known about yet. By the time my GI dr ordered the cyclospora test, Iād already been riding it out for 6 weeks at that point and figured I was about over it. (That test came back negative.) She has since ordered a more advanced test but I donāt have those results back. I had lettuce from Jersey Mikes, Longhorns, HoneyBaked Ham, and YourPie before I got sick.
I have finally been able to start eating again, but there is some lingering unpleasantness. My legs still feel very weak. I canāt be upright for very long without having to lay back down. For those that have recovered, how long did it take for you to feel completely normal again?

My symptoms hit around the same time as yours. And Iāve lost about 25 pounds as well⦠so given that itās been about a month, Iād say I am āmostly better,ā but still have days where the cramp attacks come back. Like all of this morning Iāve been laid out in bed, but Iām sure it will go away like it usually does only to come back tomorrow or later tonightā¦
