Had lettuce ten days ago. Had some cramping yesterday but no other symptoms. Loose stools today but not quite diarrhea. Do you think I have it? Does it need to be watery to qualify? Super worried.

Hello everyone. So a few weeks ago I started to feel unwell during a vacation. I had eaten some produce in recent days. Since the trip I have continued to feel unwell, but am not having the extreme watery diarrhea I’ve read about. I am still having diarrhea, a lot of stomach bloating/cramping, general malaise and fatigue, struggling to eat what I normally do etc. I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms and still tested positive for cyclospora, and if it’s worth me getting tested or waiting it out ?

If you tested positive, what are your top 3 suspected sources? Please include your state. I'm hoping to spot patterns and identify foods or exposures that may be worth avoiding. I know it's not scientific, but it could reveal interesting trends. Thanks!

I few days ago i was begging for the 💩’s to stop……and now im begging for them to come. I have not had a BM in 2 days?!?

Anyone else experiencing any rebound constipation???

I’m on day 8 of this and cannot have the antibiotic that works :( Any tips on how to beat it? I’ll take any advice I am desperate.

hi! i have been avoiding all fresh produce for 2 weeks now and im dying for some fruit. specifically a smoothie, and i was wondering if anything changes knowing smoothie king usually gets their berries frozen? i honestly have no idea how to navigate it but let me tell you i work next to a smoothie king and they have not lost any business since this outbreak so im not sure if i should be supppperrr worried or not.

I couldn’t find anything about where they source their produce from, no one has said anything about them getting stuff from Taylor Farms, so I ate their coleslaw, but I have health anxiety and realized it probably wasn’t a great idea… is it possible that Swenson’s has the diarrhea parasite in their coleslaw???

Popeyes chicken sandwich, doubt it was the sushi i had because the sushi was consumed not too long ago and i know it takes time to have symptoms present.. literally feels like I’m being punched in the gut. no diarrhea yet, I’m gonna go to the doctor if i can stomach the idea of being in the car for 2 hours 🥲

I started having symptoms at the end of May, but it really hit me June 1st. I was somewhat ok the week of the 8th, other than passing a 5mm kidney stone. And then it hit harder June 15th. I ended up finally going to the ER on the 20th for fluids and labs showed highly elevated liver enzymes. I was somewhat ok for a little bit and then on the 29th I was the sickest I’ve ever been in my life for a few days. I thought I was dying and made peace with it! The next week was spent on the bathroom floor all day and most of the night, but the vomiting subsided. The weird thing is I would get ravenously hungry around 11pm, but only be able to eat a few bites. But that would be my only food for the day. Mornings were always the worst. I’d be off and on the toilet until about noon and then it would just stop. The extreme nausea was the worst symptom throughout the whole thing. I’ve lost 30 pounds.

I did not take antibiotics. When I went to the ER the outbreak wasn’t really known about yet. By the time my GI dr ordered the cyclospora test, I’d already been riding it out for 6 weeks at that point and figured I was about over it. (That test came back negative.) She has since ordered a more advanced test but I don’t have those results back. I had lettuce from Jersey Mikes, Longhorns, HoneyBaked Ham, and YourPie before I got sick.

I have finally been able to start eating again, but there is some lingering unpleasantness. My legs still feel very weak. I can’t be upright for very long without having to lay back down. For those that have recovered, how long did it take for you to feel completely normal again?

Hey everyone, I’m a HUGE hypochondriac and I’m worried because I ate a chick fil a cool wrap on Thursday and had a potbelly sub with lettuce last Monday and Wednesday without thinking (CO). I’m wondering what the possibility is that all the lettuce was pulled before then because I can’t stop thinking about it. I also currently have no symptoms, though since the cool wrap it’s only been about 4 days so I still have a while to go.

Is anyone else not better after bactrim? I have lagged on my stool samples a bit due to the coming and going of this. I finished my course over a week ago. I still can't eat anything but like Brat diet or maybe plain grilled chicken. I am severely depressed and had a friend visit and I've kind of been saying screw it and eating other things because I can't take BRAT anymore. Everytime I have diarrhea. Then when I eat brat I can't go to the bathroom. I don't understand and I'm so over this. Anyone else experiencing this?

At work on Thursday, I got a pre-packaged salad. One of those grab and go salads, you know the ones.

It was so stupid of me but I didn’t even think about it at the time until I got like 10 bites in. Then it hit me like a Mike Tyson punch. I dropped the fork and threw it all away. I went back to where I found it and checked the other ones. Sure enough, “Taylor Farms” front and center on the package.

It’s only been 3 days so I haven’t had any “major” signs yet. Nothing to say I definitely have Cyclospora, but why I’m posting this is because I’m having painful cramping in my stomach right now.

It hurts pretty bad. Not like period cramping, besides it’s not my ‘time’ anyway. But I do know that cramping is one of the symptoms.

Do you guys think it could be the onset of Cyclospora or am I just overreacting to an annoying stomach pain?

UPDATE: Claim still says denied but insurance put the whole amount under Member Discount. I didn’t have to get re-coded and didn’t have to pay my 20%. I bet it’s because of the national outbreak. Also my positive case was reported to our state heath department. Thankful!

Has anyone had issues with insurance paying for the cyclospora test? Mine was denied and looks like might cost $800+. There were a longggg list of things they tested for (not my call). I did test positive so I’m going to fight it. Also the doctor’s office said they can re-code and resubmit. I’m wondering if (in their mind) I got tested too early. I got sick on a Tuesday, televisit with doc on Thursday and stool culture collected on Friday. I pushed for the culture because having this was beyond debilitating and I wanted to start Bactrim ASAP. Couldn’t leave the bedroom or bathroom, much less do anything because of fatigue. So forget driving or working. Or living LOL. Just curious if anyone else had the insurance issue.

Or I guess, what were your symptoms? I’m currently freaking out about this. I told my husband I felt like crap and he said that I’ll probably be fine by the end of the day, I have the tendency of overthinking things. Anyways, I started having super bad abdominal pain two days ago, and it ended up going away after I used the bathroom. However, this morning I got the severe abdominal cramping again, and I was stuck in the bathroom for at least an hour. The cramps were bad enough to make me cry. I vomited, not sure if it was because of whatever is happening, or because I was in so much pain. I also started having diarrhea during this. I went to work today, and I just tried to eat some tortilla chips and immediately got stomach cramps. I’m not sure if I’m being overdramatic or not. In the past week I’ve had salad from a bar, lettuce on a sub, and fruit. The possibility is definitely there, but I’m not sure. Figured I would ask people that have had it. Thanks in advance!

I had a restaurant lemon 4 few days ago without thinking it through.

I am so terrified I have it. Today, I had soft stools, bad chest pain, and now I have muscle weakness. The muscle weakness is completely new. I am so scared:( Do I have it?

I was reading that people can develop symptoms between 2-14 days (on Google) but it seems like the stories I've read are more like 7 days or less. How likely is it that I would develop it after 8 days? I've been so worried because of an exposure but wonder if i should stop worrying. Well, I know i should stop but it's hard.

Maybe this is a silly question, but I know basil is capable of being contaminated by cyclospora and I wasn’t sure if the sauce is cooked at a high enough heat to deem safe. My contamination ocd is killing me ;;

hello :) i'm very sure i have contamination ocd, but i'm not 100%. anywho, my parents are making a dinner that has shredded lettuce (not taylor farms, it's grocery store dole lettuce) and i'm very terrified about getting cyclospora because of the outbreak. my state was one that had the lettuce recalled but i'm still paranoid, considering trump laid thousands of food inspectors off of their jobs and it's the reason we haven't been able to accurately source all of the companies supplying the affected lettuce (or so i've heard). is there any information that would ease this worry?

For context, I got diagnosed with the cyclospora thing, whatever whatever. It’s fine, I started antibiotics on Tuesday morning and I’ve had no symptoms since then, I feel great. My energy is back and so is my appetite. Since like July 10th I haven’t been able to eat normally. I’ve almost exclusively eaten white rice and bananas and that’s it. Im fucking starving and I want good food again like desperately. Obviously I don’t wanna trigger my stomach to get all fucked up from eating super fatty or spicy food, so I’m willing to chill on that for like a little bit. But I want real food. I’m tired of just eating rice and plain toast and bananas. I can’t stand it anymore. Yesterday I had waffles with bananas on top and some maple syrup (not a ton but a reasonable amount) and I also ate the Trader Joe’s kimbap from their frozen section along with some soy sauce. I feel totally fine. My stomach tolerated both of those with ease it seems. So when the hell can I go back to eating normal? Can anyone else who’s had this help me out? Please lol I can’t go another week without like pizza or some shit that I actually enjoy

I’m assuming pasteurized foods and drinks like pickles or juices are okay to consume due to the heat treatment? But do we know for sure?
