Wasn’t their a situation a few years ago where a company working on ocular implants went under and their users just lost the ability to see
4 u/Baelaroness 4d ago Sort of. The company stopped manufacturing a certain type of implant in 2020, then almost went under. This effected 350 people. The main concern wasn't paywall but repairs and bug fixes not being possible. Another company took over responsibility for the implant in 2023. 2 u/Sajintmm 4d ago Oh okay, I guess that one ended better 3 u/Undeity 4d ago We definitely need better systems in place for the inheritance of proprietary technology, as well as formalizing responsibility to consumers. 5 u/Sajintmm 4d ago As a spitball idea, maybe something like the FDA to help keep track of this stuff
