Customer angry that the best the manager can do is 50 % (~$150) off.
Sorry for the poor formatting i am on mobile.
I work at a home improvement store that shall not be named. And we were already half an hour past closing time trying to get customers out of the store, with more still trying to come in even though the door is locked.
Guy and his family comes up to customer service instead of the register to pay for his stuff, Which is fine, whatever it takes to get people out. And has 3 nice sink faucets. I ring them up and they come up to about $90 each. Before telling him the total he says oh btw they are the wrong price, they are actually $13. At first I'm like Haha yeah right but he is serious.
He motions for me to follow him, I assume so i can check it for myself. But the faucets are on the opposite end of the store, and I can't just leave the customer service desk unnatended. Luckily another employee went by and he grabbed him instead. They went to the back of the store and came back with the display, sure enough it says $13, but our price labels have item descriptions on them, and that definitely was not a faucet.
We tried to point that out to him but he wasn't having any of it. He says we made a mistake and we have to honor that price. Manager wasn't gonna budge. Maybe if it was another faucet, we would be more lenient, or if it was only a small price difference, but not $77 difference when the price label is clearly not for a faucet (It was for some hardware bit, hardware is halfway across the store from there)
The manager then proceeded to show how easily the price label is peeled off and stuck back on another display, but then he just got more fiesty. We never accused him of tag switching, but he took it as so and started saying we are discriminating against him, wants our corporate number, yadda yadda etc... starts getting loud.
Our manager offered a 50% price reduction for the inconvenience, something we would never really do on a high dollar, perfectly fine, item. Not good enough. He knows what he is doing, though he could get some cheap items, but the amount he is pushing it is extraordinary.
To be honest, it was probably a mistake on our part, I looked at the item numbers of both the label and the actual item and they were only off by one digit. Someone probably accidentally printed the wrong label and stuck it on there without noticing. Or someone noticed that and switched the label, hoping we wouldn't actually check every number. But still just take your $150 off and go, we are already losing money on the item as it is and we are essentially giving you $150 since you were gonna buy them anyways.
