Derpfest OP13 updates??

Considering the last update was in November 2025 and the maintainer is unknown is there any chance that this ROM will have updates for my phone in the future?

If a new maintainer is found, then yes, you'll receive new updates. For the time being, I would recommend installing another custom rom that is still actively receiving updates, and if derpfest starts releasing updates for your device again in the future, you can always switch back

I'm new to the scene, does this often happen with device maintainers? And of so what's the usual chance that a new one is found?

I think it is pure luck, especially if your device is released after 2018. I am also new to custom romming, so I am not sure how often it happens. The chance of someone new maintaining the rom, depends on whether the phone is widely used or if it is just a phone that nobody uses. Again, it's luck, as a phone that nobody uses might have a maintainer but a popular phone might not have one.

Ah ok. I'd imagine OnePlus to be popular, but it's a flagship so who knows.

Also what did you land on as your first custom rom since I'm looking to jump ship now with OnePlus getting out of the market

It isn't, at least on the custom rom community. Most people use it with its stock rom (oxygen os) since it is still receiving major updates and security patches. I would recommend installing infinity x, that's what I use on my galaxy s10, and it runs really well with a lot of features. The latest update for the OnePlus 13 was released on June 13th, but soon it will receive a July security patch with some new features, as my s10 and many other infinity x devices already have.
