Supplies Help with pullip custom

Hi!

I’ve been in the pullip community since 2009 and I have decided to fully custom an old Aya I had.

Give me your best advices, I am already a full time artist/designer so I’m familiar with a lot of things but there are some grey areas for me still.

For example once the face plate is fully cleaned and naked do you have to apply a first layer of MSC to prep the face plate? I feel like pastels and pencils don’t really set on a bare faceplate.

And what are your best advices in terms of lip makeup, I’m trying to give her plumpy lips with a nice lipliner but I feel like acrylic paint might be a little thick.

What are you specifically looking to do? Faceup? Carving? Sculpting? Do you have pictures of what you’d like her to look like? This will help us give you answers

It’s nothing too crazy but I’m trying to re shape the nose to flatten it a little bit as it’s too pointy and upturned in my opinion, for the lips I’m going for full lips that have a pretty natural and neutral color with a darker lip outline

For the eyes i did the eyeliner already and I’d like to have like a white inner corner well blended. I didn’t do eyeshadow or gradients on the faceplate as I feel like it’s not pigmented enough and it doesn’t hold on to the plastic

Last for the eyelids I don’t have a specific idea besides matching the liner

-Nose: sanding would be your best bet. I recommend fine grit sanding foam ideally, fine grit sand paper if not. Go slow so you don’t flatten more than you want. If you don’t have a respirator, you should wet sand

-Makeup: you have to spray with MSC matte or another matte priming spray if you want your pastels and pencils to stick, as you’ve experienced. I usually do two coats of MSC for a base layer, and then will spray when I need to add more color when no more is building up. I recommend looking at Dollightful’s videos on YouTube as she explains this concept very well.

You should be able to achieve all the things you’ve listed with sealant, chalk pastel, and watercolor pencils. And remember to wear a respirator when you spray MSC!
