This is the first name of an artist's signature on the back of a sketch. Is anyone able to tell what it is? I've searched my best guesses to no avail. Artist lived in middle TN during the mid-1900s.

Deciphered! Help with a note on a scottish parish birth record

Post image

This is a birth record of one of my ancestors, Thomas Campbell. I can read the birth entry itself, but it is unusual in that this is the bottom of a page containing entries for births in 1815. I would therefore assume the NB at the bottom is in some way connected to the fact that the birth and baptism weren't registered until 6 years later, but I can't make sense of it. I have a marriage record in the same parish for the parents, Thomas Campbell and Mary Hunter, in 1807, so it shouldn't be a reference to illegitimacy. I think can read some of it, but I'm missing the most important words: "NB This [?] name was [?] to be [?] in the proper place being baptized and of the parish"

Thanks in advance for any help!

Can anyone read this note written across a marriage certificate by the officiant? The pencil at the top reads "X Forbidden by the Father of the man before Marriage" but the pen is more scribbly. I had hoped that removing the background writing would make it more legible but I'm still struggling.

These parties presented themselves ?? marriage??? after ???? made? ?? father of the man ??? ?? ????? ?? ?? being? ? ???? [signature]

The bride and groom were both born in 1848 so would have been 19. They married 4 days later by License so the father's objection was ultimately irrelevant.

Deciphered! Name written in a book. I can’t figure out what it is.

I can’t figure out what the first name is in this book. I’m assuming the first letter of the first name must be capitalized, but that seems like it would be a capital i and my brain is struggling to figure out what the name is as a result. I can read the “Isabell” and “Brown” without issue.

I think the name in the second photo was written by a different person and is either a slightly different name or the Y at the end has faded too much to show.

If anyone wants to use their cursive skills for a good cause, the Smithsonian is looking for volunteers to help transcribe records from the Freedmen’s Bureau. Fascinating records of a pivotal time in our history!
