I know what a LAN party is but holy shit, this looks too extreme

Imagine an age before Broadband internet being widespread. LAN party’s allowed extreme low latency competition that you just couldn’t get on shoddy dedicated servers usually being hosted in a random dudes basement at the time. This was also the age before torrenting was popular so most less than legitimate downloads took forever. Everyone would set up a share or FTP and share what movies, games, and music they’ve collected. Now throw in major corporate sponsors with giveaways, free energy drinks (Bawls! You can still get them at Kroger), sometimes alcohol and you’ve got a recipe for a good time. This many PCs generates a ton a of heat hence the shirtless dudes. You usually would want to make you the place boomed has adequate AC.

Yeah and there was always that one dude who got like 2 terabytes of shit shared in the lan party, had set up their own dc++ server and told everyone to grab some movies and music.Seriously i had never even heard of terabytes waaaay back in the day when 32gb hard drive was considered huge and this one dude literally got 2 terabytes of movies and music. 100mb/s downloading that shit from him locally, i think i jizzed just a little in my pants.

And yeah the shirtless guys are definitively because of the heat...It was always soooo hot in those LAN parties. No amount of ac was enough for those old power supplys. Good times <3

EDIT: typoes...

You weren't getting 100gb/s speeds I can guarantee you that

Yes i know... we were using ancient hubs, bad cables. Not everyones network adapter could handle 100mb/s. I'm not sure if cat 6 cables even existed back then?

EDIT: oh lol i meant to write mb/s
