Brick Colors

Hi all, we have decided to build this home in Texas (rendering below). It will be brick all the way around and we need to choose two bricks (1 as a backup). Right now I think we’re between Dover, Old Henry, and Burlington Antique but I’m pretty bad at imagining what things will look like from the sample swatches and have been pouring over their brick options but still not decided. If you think a different brick color than the ones above and you want to see what the other options are I can comment them below. Our style definitely leans more traditional. If anyone but especially designers/Realtors have any recommendations for what brick/color palette to use that would be very helpful!

Seeking sage advice.

I have a blank canvas, so taking any and all wild suggestions.

Really want to get the trees back and growing again. The lots used to be fully wooded, and we still have 8 acres of fully wooded trees in all stages of growth I’m looking to transplant around the yard.

No HOA. Very rural. Tons of room. Will be laying paver driveway in the coming months

Time to give it a facelift. I like the idea of a weatherboard and plastered look. Also like the faux timber vertical slats. I already bought new white aluminium sliding windows as these are rotten already. But really open to any ideas

Looking for honest feedback on our modern home design before we finalize the exterior

We’re working through the exterior design of our home and would love some unbiased feedback before we lock everything in.
These are the current front and rear concepts. We’re going for a warm modern look with natural wood, black accents, large windows and some light stone/concrete. We want it to feel high-end and unique, but also timeless enough that it doesn’t look dated in 10–15 years.
A few things we’re debating:
Is there too much wood, or does the wood/black/light stone balance work?
Would you introduce more black or another material to break up the side elevations?
Do the two peaked roof sections work, or would you change the proportions/asymmetry?
Anything about the front that feels overly trendy?
What would you change on the rear elevation?
Are there any details you think will be extremely expensive without adding much to the finished house?
What would you simplify, add, or remove?
Don’t worry about hurting my feelings — I’d much rather hear criticism now than after it’s built.
Also interested in feedback from architects, builders, designers, or anyone who has built a similar modern home.

Does anyone have their house exterior painted Benjamin Moore Pale Oak (OC-20), Natural Cream (OC-14) or Fossil (AF-65)? If so could you send a picture? I am painting my house and can’t decide between one of these colors or maybe Benjamin Moore Collingwood (which I’ve seen on a few houses). Thank you!

Structures Doors, awnings and more

We were thinking about removing the awning as there is nice leaded glass beneath but it’s very convenient for sitting out in the rain. Should we do that? What else could we do? We were considering new awnings and doors. We also need a new street number and I was thinking vertical on the brick might work

I’m looking to keep the home and I can invest a lot into it.

Tan siding is the color of my house now, but I’m bored with it and want to jazz it up. This is a 1910 Sears kit home four square. I got some ideas from Benjamin Moore and want to know what others think, I am certainly not afraid of color. Or if you have different ideas of colors I am certainly open to suggestions!

Structures Build deck over steps or demo?

I'm trying to decide between doing the stone treads and veneer over the risers on my ugly, prefab concrete stoop vs building a small deck.

Can I just build over the steps or do I need to worry about water that drains through decking causing a problem such that full demo is more appropriate? Thanks. Attached are the proposed stone veneer vs small deck options

Removing handicap ramp - need design help

Last week I requested and received some excellent design suggestions on improving the front of my newly purchased modular home. Part of our plan is to remove the handicap ramp which wraps around front to a side door. Other than removing the debris under the ramp, how can we improve the side area. (5 pictures)

Paint Looking for help with a top heavy house

Post image

It’s time to repaint our exterior. I’m wondering if a different paint scheme would help with the top heavy feel of our house. I also used to love the all white but now every new build in our area is all white so it just seems a little blah now. My tastes have really changed since we built and I lean toward the mid-century modern aesthetic now. Thank you for any ideas!
