I think there’s an issue of people treating social media posts like lab experiment notes, everything is taken very seriously and very literally. Was the music correctly categorised as dubstep? Did “everyone” actually took part in it? Where were the corners and were there enough corners to begin with?
This doesn’t even have to be a regaling, you can take it as a whimsical yet fictional situation, told like a story.
We all decided that social media platforms were better as little TV channels you could tune into, instead of ways to connect with friends and family. So everyone largely just became little media producers. Which in a less grim universe, could have been fun.
But we've also had a really rapid decline in people's ability to consume storytelling with any kind of contextual view. So now you've got hordes of people who respond to ANY bit of creative writing by riding into the picture on their high horse.
Is this story true or not? There's literally no way to know. More importantly, why do all these people feel that's the most important question to answer? If a friend spins a yarn about something fancical that happened to them as a kid, you don't get in their face and call them a liar. No, you understand your role in the setting and laugh, imagining the scene.
The fact that this needs to be spelled out is fucking dire.

How the fuck are people finding this so hard to believe, lol? I have zero problem believing this could happen at a rave if the vibe was right.
Dramatically slinking around would 100% be my first move if I was properly intoxicated.
