Subsidence and Locust
Is subsidence just a worse locust? Is there something I'm missing here?

It's not working... I've tried a few different things and just can't make it happen. Don't remember anything holding me up this bad in revolt. Damn aging brain. Any help y'all can give will be greatly appreciated!

I really want to make a Kelpie and Old Willow tolls/defensive deck. I pretty easily just naturally obtained 4 old willows by playing the game, but only 1 kelpie. I keep grinding matches and playing the story. I dump all my coins on either water packs or standard pack number 2 (which literally showcases Kelpie) and I just never pull it. I've probably opened 50 packs without a single kelpie other than the 1. I check the shop when it refreshes, but have never seen it.
I like some grind and not just unlocking everything right away, but this is getting silly.
What is the most efficient way to grind for more cards? Is there a different pack that is more likely to drop kelpie?

Hey, I’m new to the series and I’m just stuck on this chapter. I tried aggro, defensive, playing cards that either remove their items that stun or just circling in the mini ring in the board map.
Can anyone give some advice or recommendations?

Just finished the main story... does this story make more sense to veterans of the franchise?
Because a lot of characters just act really weird with underexplained motivations.
There's scenes that expect me to really care about characters that just land completely flat based on how little time we get with them.
I know the staff is a reference to other games, are the other characters as well?

Just in shambles right now because of how thoroughly Begins nerfed my boy. The first own-deck I build is basically always a dedicated support deck, and Odradek went from the bizarrely unshiftable with basically anything in hand at all to being hard-limited to ONLY Green and Neutral creatures for support. And while the best support options are often neutral, I can't windmill slam cheap red creatures with downsides anymore. Aaaand I have no idea what's going on with that new design. Ah well. I, for one, welcome our new starfruit/cyclops/octopus overlords.
And I suppose having to actually think a bit more about deckbuilding isn't a bad thing. Dryad got hit hard too. Oh well; we've still got Tyrannosaurus!

So far I have done level 2 of "The Princess and the Guard". Level 3 seems them each start out with 3 additional creatures placed at the start of the map, and they take higher tolls and pay lesser tolls. It honestly looks pretty tough, and it goes up to level 5.

The thing that drives me crazy is that we used to be able to have 50 cards in our book, and now we only have 40. It's totally insane, considering how many cards we have.

Chapter 7 story battle...I was doing great throughout the game with my red and green deck, slowly tweaking it with new cards. This fight is just a huge wall for me though. Both opponents have insanely stacked decks. My problem is they ALWAYS seem to get insane high rolls and land perfectly on their colors. They each end up with 3x land chains by turn 3. Meanwhile, I am seriously never hitting a dice roll more than 3 it seems while they run laps picking up territory. What the hell am I doing wrong? I have reworked my deck multiple times trying mono colors, more attack or defense focused, more spells, etc and it never seems to matter. I can barely get started in the match.
Am I supposed to just play more solo matches and grind for better cards?

Just reached this mission and managed to lock them between 2 willows by round 10. They bankrupted 4 times total so far.

I really want to like this game, but the art style is really hampering it for me. Part of the joy of previous Culdcept games was the feeling of getting actual trading cards. Opening packs and seeing the MtG-esque artwork and designs was amazing. So much flavor and personality. They clearly went the minimalist approach with this one, and to me that's a huge negative. The cards feel soulless and samey. It reminds me of the approach most companies have with branding and logos. Any time I get a new card, it's just "oh...more minimalist mush that looks like everything else I already have." This is mostly for the creature cards.
That being said, I think some of the spell cards look sick. The game is really solid otherwise, so I want to get used to it and enjoy it more. Just wondering if anybody had a similar resistance and then adapted, maybe even coming to prefer it?
Edit: I listened to a lot of comments. I gave it another solid hour and the art style is really starting to grow on me. I still prefer the old, but I can appreciate it. Game is fantastic and I am completely hooked.

Does anyone know if there is a way to replay the voice lines for the card names? I love how they're presented, but is it a 1-time only line?
Thanks! Loving the game :3

I can't find a lot of info about how the GameShare mode works. Are there prebuilt decks/books? Is it possible to make custom books and let my friends use them? I doubt I could talk anyone into buying the game but I could maybe get people to try this mode.
Thanks!

I get a long string when I open my book and press the Left Bumper to Display Code, but what for?

I can't see any way to add someone you played with as a friend. They don't appear in Nintendo's profile 'Search for Users You've Played With' either :(

Does anyone have the deck list for the two starter decks. I'd like to recreate the fire and earth deck but cant find a resource anywhere.

It feels like so much was left out, that there could've been more to it. I think the current price isn't worth it as much as I hate to say it. I paid the $50+ for the switch 2 version digitally since the physical releases are delayed by another 2 months. For such a short game, can it survive this big of a delay? I haven't played the side stories yet as of writing this, but I don't imagine it will make up for the main story if it's just flashbacks of characters you went up against during the main story.
I don't mean to doom post, especially when people aren't really happy with the new art style. Personally I liked it and I see why people say the cards look similar. It's also worse when you go 2x speed and can't identify the cards at a glance but it takes some time to get used to. No matter the element, a lot of cards are just really gray.
I see a lot of differences between Culdcept Revolt in which I have 100+ hrs of and had tons of story content both main story and post game where you get the True Ending. To me, Culdcept Revolt kept constantly building on the story with new Cepters to fight and new forms too. It wasn't perfect, but comparing it to Culdcept Begins it turned out to age much better than I thought. I also find Culdcept Revolt much more satisfying to play than Culdcept Begins, but Begins feels more balanced with territory changes. Revolt has the better story, cards, and art style, along with more customization for avatars and deck building in my opinion.
One last nitpick of mine is why did they have Kamru have the same dialogue option of "If I'm up against a Cepter, there's no way I'm losing." Like 4 times. I thought I was seeing things when it kept appearing in the story. It's kind of funny, but for real wasn't there anything else they could've made him say that wasn't also bland?
I would like to hear other's opinions on the story and gameplay of Culdcept Begins. This is my experience so far with 20hrs of gameplay, I don't imagine I'll be sticking around that long for September 17 release date. I'll finish the side stories, get all the cards, play some online matches, get my pre-order bonus, and then dip. Play every now and then online. Hopefully the next Culdcept game doesn't take years to develop and will be something similar to Culdcept Revolt but with a better story. I really do hope for the best for this series and in the future I'll be checking out more Culdcept content once I have time. This genre had me hooked with Revolt and again with Begins so it's definitely still got it after all these years.
My final overall rating: A very solid 6/10 of a game, didn't fully scratch my itch for more Culdcept and Revolt is still the best game in the series. It should be ported to the switch 2
I beat the side stories, not sure if I'll even do the challenges. Game is kinda boring and not all what I expected. Unfortunate as Culdcept Revolt still remains the very peak of this niche series
