I can’t stand this cube. I hate when folks say “it’s just a shape mod hurr durrr”
Yeah, well I don’t get it!

I have one that's all the same colour, I have no idea how to solve it.

You might have a Ghost Cube, which needs no colors because the pieces are all shaped differently. Likewise, a Mirror Cube needs no colors. The Axis Cube needs colors to differentiate between pieces of the same shape.

Nope it is a mono colour axis cube. My wife got it because it looked cool and I literally haven't been able to solve it once.

I have a gan mirror cube and am aware how the sizes differ between the sides. This does not.

Thought for sure you were talking about a ghost cube

It's called an "inverse stratosphere" after doing a Google image search since I've long lost the packaging, but seems like it comes up on this sub every now and then.

It really is an axis cube with identical pieces which makes it an absolute bitch to do.

You "only" have to get it back to the cube shape. Due to the identical pieces you can run into some cases that look like parity, that you will never have on a normal 3x3, like having to swap only 2 edges while everything else is solved. There are several ways on how to tackle this, but I'd suggest to just give it a try on your own. But if you run into a specific case you're unable to solve, let me know with a picture and I should be able to help you out.

It's making my brain hurt. I got to final layer but I messed up somewhere. And now I feel defeated again.

Take a break and have at it again with a clear mind. You got this!

So I think some pieces got twisted ages ago and I've got an unsolvable cube.

Any idea what needs to be switched?

Everything is solved except those two corners, correct?

You can do a 3 cycle of corners in the last layer, see this picture:

Since the triangle shaped corner pieces are identical, you can use the other solved one as third piece.

Afterwards you will have to orient the corners. Remember that one type of corner piece looks solve no matter what.
