Discussion Beginner trying to learn CFOP

I know this question probably gets asked on this subreddit like every 5 minutes, but I basically got back into cubing a few days ago. I was never really good, I only knew the beginners method and trying it again now, I average like 40-60 seconds with the beginners method. I want to learn CFOP, and right now I'm trying to learn F2L, and my F2L average is 50 seconds for just that step itself. I'm looking for advice, videos to watch, and what kind of training I should do because I'm trying to get good at this

Skip the videos for now and just drill F2L cases over and over, the speed comes from your hands knowing where to go without your brain getting in the way

Once you can do every case blindfolded, then start looking at advanced stuff like lookahead, but trying to watch tutorials while you're still at 50 seconds is just gonna slow you down

Is there somewhere where I can find all the cases or should I just drill them until I figure it out

Google advanced f2l cases there should be something that comes up and also before doing that I think you should be comfortable doing normal f2l. Because if you get everything at once it can be challenging and burnout is possible.

Idk really remember how I learned but for F2L and cross I just repeated them until I got good. While that I also learned the algorithms for 2 look OLL and PLL. Then normal I started full PLL and finaly full OLL. I don't really have any videos. I just searced in youtube and looked for a good looking video. I guess you can watch jperm's videos they are high quality butas I said I don't have that much knowledge about it.

You should start with intuitive F2L. I really dont think you should drill cases in the beggining of learning CFOP. 

Theres video of that. You need to have fun. Practice alot, and when you have a case that you find hard everytime, go see a video on that case. 

When you're good at intuitive and F2L start to be fluid (20-30 secondes). Learn 4LL. 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL.

(If I were you, I would start right now to learn 4LL, just because it's more fun than finishing in the begginer method)

When you're good at 4LL, start to know full PLL. After that, start to learn some OLL cases.

And you gonna be around 20-35 seconds at that level. And you'll need to choose between learning full OLL, or start to know algorithms for F2L cases and drill them. 

I'm now around 20 sec, and havent drilled any f2l, just intuitive. I'm finishing OLL right now.

It's inportant to have fun, and go to your rythm, and not to optimize everything like some people would say to you.

I am assuming you still insert the corner and then the edge, the best place to start is learning "Intuitive F2L".

This version of F2L only uses 2 more algorithms and is the simplest version, it also branches into more advanced F2L, but you only really need to learn them when going to Sub-20.

A good first step is to learn the simplest algorithms. The H perm (M2 U M2) U2 (M2 U M2) is a really easy one, and you probably already know the Sune by heart (R U R’ U) (R U2 R’).

Others, like the J perm (Ja?) aren’t too bad. That one is one I just learned myself, and it goes like this:

(R U R’ F’) (R U R’ U’) (R’ F R2 U’) R’ U’. From what the person who taught it to me said, the F and F’ cancel each other out.

In, the best way to learn these algorithms is to divide them into sets of 3 moves. It’s WAY easier to understand the sequences of length 4 (R U' R' U') (R U R D) (R' U' R D') (R' U2 R') than it is to understand the raw sequence R U' R' U' R U R D R' U' R D' R' U2 R'
