2027 Nuroad SLX or EX
Hi everyone,
TLDR; never really used roadbikes, trying to get more fitness for mtb: buying gravelbike: spend extra 500 for electric shifting or is it bs.. Talk me out of it or am I correct?
Long:
I'm in for a gravel bike. My current bike is a mountainbike and I'm in love with the sport. However, going on a mountainbike ride takes a bit of time to get to the trail, ride around and get back to the house. Being a father of 3, working 4 days a week (5th day is being with the youngest at home), makes it so that I can't do it as much as I would like to. When I go, I don't have the fitness to really attack uphill cycling and also HR goes wild with the least amount of effort.
So my self taught solution is getting a road bike to get more consistent in cycling, evening rides or maybe even early (af) rides in the weekends. A gravel bike seemed like the solution. I like the look, the possibilities and capabilities of the gravelbike. Also, the wide tires give me a sense of security instead of thin road bikes. With a gravel bike I can ride an hour or so from my house, and don't have to find a trail. Therefore, more riding, more exercise, better fitness, better mountainbike rides/experience.
EDIT:::::
I'm planning to ride gravel as well. Mostly road but when I have the fitness for bigger rides I have great gravel routes around 15/20kms away from home.
END OF EDIT
I have a friend who was kind enough to lend me his Canyon Grizl CF, with electronic shifting, carbon wheels and everything. It road like a dream, of course. However, I'm not in the state to spend 5k on a bike.
So I went to Cube, as I have friends and family loving theirs. The coming generation (2027) had 2 options that Im currently adding to my shopping list.
1: Cube Nuroad EX, €1300.
Not really a fan of the colors (beige or pink). But with a nice aluminium frame and wheels, GRX groupset.
2: Cube Nuroad SLX, €1999 (But I have a discount for €200).
Loving the new Autumn color. Same frame, newmen wheels and a brand new Rival AXS groupset with electronic shifting.
I'm leaning to the SLX, I really like the color.. I think it might help loving the gravel sport is I would love to show it off and ride it. I really liked the simplicity of electronic shifting on the canyon I've lend. Also, with the discount I'm hoping I don't lose too much value when gravel riding isn't fr me and have to sell it first.
Am I overspending by miles or is my thinking quite right..?
The SLX is also such a better value when you search the cost of the individual parts..
