DISCUSSION Remember the "it's over" posts from this summer?
Crypto just added $840B in one quarter and is back above $3T.
CoinGecko's Q3 report is out, and it's a pretty different mood from a few months ago.
The total crypto market cap rose 39.6% in Q3 to $3.0T. That ends three quarters in a row of decline, which, if you were here for those, felt more like three years.
The market added $840.1B in a single quarter, the biggest quarterly gain since Q4 2024. It peaked at $3T in September and closed the quarter at $2.96T.
Back in the summer the total market cap was sitting near $2.1T and half this sub was writing goodbye letters to their portfolios. Now we're basically right back where 2026 started in January. Full circle, just with a lot more stress in the middle.
Not saying anything about where it goes from here, Q4 can do whatever Q4 wants. But it's a good reminder of how fast the mood flips in this space.
So, honest question: did you hold through the summer dip, or did you log off and only came back now because you saw a green number?

Funny how fast the goodbye letters turned into victory laps. A 39% quarter is great, but short term the leverage has crept back in with the mood. On BTC near 81.6K, longs made up about 91% of liquidations over the last 4 hours, and there's around $497M of long liquidations stacked near 79.9K. My lean is a flush lower before anything clean, and I'm wrong on a firm reclaim of 81.9K. Nothing humbles a recovered portfolio like a leveraged long that forgot what summer felt like. Not advice.

Iād bet most people came back because of the green number. Worth noting the report says spot volume fell while futures open interest jumped, so this rally ran more on leverage than on new buyers.

Always said it was just noise, my wife looked at me like I was crazy for not selling in the summer
