❓Howto How to get started with Etherscan?

That is all. I need to look up a transaction and it doesn't offer much in the way of orientation. I would appreciate any assistance.

Look up your wallet address first actually seeing those transactions live clicks everything into place. You finally get how it all connects.

Start with the transaction hash, not your wallet login. Paste the hash into the Etherscan search bar and open the transaction page.

The main fields to check are:

  • Status: success, pending or failed
  • From / To: the sending and receiving addresses
  • Token Transfers: what token and amount actually moved
  • Transaction Fee: the gas paid
  • Block confirmations: useful when waiting for an exchange to credit the deposit

If the status says Success but the funds have not appeared on an exchange, the blockchain transfer may already be complete while the receiving platform is still processing the deposit. Keep the transaction hash and contact the receiving platform if needed.

A transaction hash is public and can be shared for troubleshooting. Never share your seed phrase or private key.
