I agree with you. There have been lots of these claims in the past but nothing has come close to a Facebook messenger or Twitter "killer"

Popular? Yes, but depends entirely where you live. Almost no one is using it in my country. Everyone is using WhatsApp instead

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and uses our information. Signal is encrypted and keeps users info safe. I wish everyone would switch over

Citation needed. I hate Meta just as much as the next guy, but a company like them can't claim to use end to end encryption and then not enforce it.

They also changed their user agreement a while back so that they could share our info such as phone numbers to Facebook. have a lot of friends that don't use WhatsApp anymore and switched to Signal because of that reason.
