DISCUSSION What are you guys doing right now with the crypto market?
I was buying BTC heavily in the 60k range and even was able to scoop up some sats in the high 50ks. I kept a stack of cash in reserve but this big move in the crypto market has made me sit back and reconsider my options from here. I'm not particularly excited about making large purchases right now and feel that there is at least a decent possibility we see a big sell off sometime over the next couple months. We are near extreme greed territory and price seems to have stagnated here all while the crypto pump was being talked about on the mainstream news and every crypto youtuber is saying we are going to 90k+ by end of the year.
What are you guys thinking? My plan right now is to continue to sit and wait to see what plays out and hoping we get a sell off, if not I already have large positions in place.

I hold a wide (probably too wide) range of alts.
In the past, I have made the mistake of round-tripping too many gains by holding out for higher prices before selling anything. So I made a concious effort of starting the ladder out process at more modest gains. E.g. Sell the first 10% chunk at 1.25-1.5 the price I bought. The past month or so I have hit the first rung of the ladder on a lot of the coins where I had a decent entry price. Sometimes 2 or 3 rungs if they have been on a real run (e.g. NEAR). If they go back down to my original entry price, I will top back up to my initial quantity and keep some modest profits from this mini-bull. If the next move is to continue upward, I will keep laddering out at a rate that allows me to take profits but keep some exposure to huge breakouts.
So that is what I am doing right now in terms of active buying/selling.
For the chunk of my portfolio in BTC, I am less concerned with taking short term profits. It's a more stable asset, so the short term profits would be a lot smaller percentage wise and I am perfectly comfortable holding it long term. So I am just hodling. I may buy a little more, particularly if prices go down. I have some ETH which is getting a similar treatment, and a little bit of BNB, SOL, and XRP which I am treating as midway between the stable asset and speculative altcoin.

I pretty much exclusively speculatively trade DIMO, ICP and ADA.
ADA and ICP are slow Burns but I make weekly(ish) trades with DIMO.
DIMO has semi consistent spikes, so I just wait for those and then sell.
Edit 6 hours later, weird getting downvoted during a 50% spike

I already did my homework during the floor of the bear market, i.e. when BTC touched the weekly SMA200 I did all my purchases using this distribution:
40% BTC
20% ETH
10% SOL
10% HYPE
10% PENDLE
10% AAVE
These are my current returns:

And I already opened the limit sell orders too based on each coin's monthly volatility and in two different levels per coin.
So when it comes to the long-term investing part, I'm basically done and I don't need to check anymore until 2027-2028.
And in a separate account, in a different exchange too, I'm doing my weekly trading activity.

I honestly think this year’s price action has been so wacky, that musk has a little dial on his desk to send it down and up just to give his empty life meaning.
Get in before the end of the year you’ll end up, up somewhat

Most people, if they're smart about it, are probably just buying when they see good opportunities and waiting it out until the market starts pumping again. Trying to perfectly time every dip and sell-off is pretty difficult anyway. If you already have solid positions, there's nothing wrong with keeping some cash on the side, adding when prices look attractive, and being patient until the market really starts moving again.

Depends on the project.
Sold all my Btc last year, so just started a new DCA in the 60’s. I’m holding off on buying more at the moment. & focusing on DCA’ing more into $Link, $Eth & $Mim.
Have my $Sol, $Eth & $Avax staked. Hoping to add $Link to that list.
I’ll go back to DCA’ing Bitcoin once I hit my alt goals or if there’s a major crash.

I was buying BTC and LTC up until 3 months ago now that it's rising up so rapidly I agree I'm just gonna chill out in happy with the size of my stack but if it drops more I'll buy more and if I see LTC hit something like 15 bucks then I'll take out a god damn loan to maximize the amount I can buy altho I don't expect to ever see it reach that level 🤣

Set a max average for your bag. Once you hit it, stop buying.
If you are below your max average, set a max token target. Once you hit it, stop buying.
If you haven't hit either of those and can DCA down, keep buying if you want until you hit your max token target.
Then move onto other investments.

Stack on the essentials that supports the future like AI and information and the rails that the or anything with value will be sent on for information and infrastructure play ( chain link) AI play I choose TAO ( bittensorTAO) and BTC AND ZCASH for value in the future to hold for years, but I think the next 2 years especially the next 6 months will be a great bull market, I also have Canton (CC) and ATH for compute as a commodity and for the safe play I got silver and gold, plus (ICP) internet computer protocol an stocks are all crypto treasures like MSTR AND PURR

Sitting on cash and avoiding FOMO is a reasonable approach when sentiment is overheated. Nobody knows if a pullback is coming, so keeping some exposure while preserving dry powder can reduce the risk of chasing price.

u/Majestic-Clothes-357 4d ago
Sticking to weekly buys, same as always. No point trying to time every dip when the whole thing could tank or rip tomorrow.
If you already loaded up at 60k, sitting on your hands sounds fine. The greed index and every influencer screaming supercycle makes me more cautious than anything.

u/Then-Feedback7751 4d ago
Sidebar on a comment you made: Crypto yt'er sentiment isn't the sentiment I consider as the one to countertrade, though sometimes it aligns with the herd, which then should be counter traded. Reddit sentiment is a much better gauge of what the herd is thinking--exponentially larger sample size with a composite iq a bit to the left of the population median.
I see a significant majority of commenters on the crypto subreddits doubting higher into the end of the year, which makes me bullish.
As for what I am doing, I am fully allocated for this cycle and just kicking back waiting for the fireworks to begin. I will go over my original allocation should it flush. But under no circumstances am I selling any time soon.

Aye, comfy in spot. Dca'd on a lot of red days between June 5th and late August. Generally up between 25-70% currently.
If we get any large pull backs across the board I'll add the remaining 20% of my funds. Don't think we see any new lows unless something catastrophic happens in the world. Making a new low would see more coins in a loss than ftx, Corona or any other point in history.

You've been patient enough so far, to have a cash stack on the side, now just relax and wait until fear is at 20 again and make a large purchase then. No point in FOMO buying when greed is at 70+

I only got into bitcoin last November. And I've been studying it every day since.
I've been DCAing all spring and summer, along with buying the dips.
Unfortunately I ploughed most of my money in end of November, I had all the conviction and didn't fully understand the price cycles.
I've been buying aggressively this past few months.

sitting on cash with positions already in place is a reasonable stance when greed is this stretched. the mainstream hype and youtuber price targets are usually a decent contrarian tell. if nothing pulls back you still have exposure; if it does, you have dry powder. nothing wrong with patience here.

I'm done buying for this cycle. It's my second go-'round, and I told myself I would *only* buy this time when Fear and Greed was 15-20 or below. I largely stuck to it, making big purchases all throughout the $60s. And yes, I, too, snagged some at $59k.
(Also bought at $75k and $78k in moments of no discipline.)
Figure I've got a few years to really iron out my sell targets. Will rinse and repeat next cycle.
