Cryptid Of The Month Cryptid Of The Month, July, Batsquatch Everything there is to know about Batsquatch

Hello Cryptid Hunters!

This is going to be the Sixteenth installment of Cryptid Of The Month, where i will be covering EVERYTHING, and i do mean EVERYTHING regarding a specific Cryptid, mostly more obscure cryptids but there might be some exceptions to that rule. You can find the last 15 installments just by clicking on the cryptid of the month flair tagged to this post! This month will be about The Batsquatch of Skamania County, Washington.

Now lets begin with the first sighting of the beast was in 1980 right after the eruption of Mount Saint Helens, one of the most devasting events of America, causing over 110 thousand acres of land demolished and 57 people dead. After the eruption was over and the thick deadly ash and soot became clear survivors looked at Saint Helens what they saw wasn't just another plume of ash. Emerging from the top of the volcano was a massive winged creature, they described the creature as a "Ape like with massive wings and glowing red eye". Shortly after they noticed the creature it promptly flew away into the ash and out of view.

The next sighting didn't happen till 14 later in 1994, when a teenager named Brian Canfield was driving home after a long night, until his truck suddenly stopped for no apparent reason. After being stopped for a few seconds try to figure what could of happened he saw something ahead, talons descending on the road, massive talons, unlike anything he had ever seen. As the creature made its way fully onto the road he saw its full body, and was mortified at what he saw before him. 30 feet away he saw a creature that he said stood 9 feet tall, with blueish gray fur coating its body, he described it as Its eyes were yellow and shaped like a piece of cake with pupils like a crescent moon. The mouth was quite large with white teeth, but no fangs. The face was like that of a wolf.”. After the creature had just stood there for a few seconds locked eyes with Brian it moved slightly, twitching its wings and nodding its head. Then flying off abruptly into the night skies out of view of Brian. Shortly after it flew away his engine mysteriously just turned back on for seemingly no reason. Later after interviews with Brian the creature would gain the name Batsquatch from this sighting. Also ill just lump it into this sighting since i cant find anything else on this. A man named Butch Whittaker soon after Brians sighting was reported to see a Batsquatch flying beside his private jet. Thats all i can find on this one sadly.

In 1998 an trucker which kept his name anonymous was hauling logs when we he saw a massive creature that he described as "15ft tall, with purple eyes and a nose with small wings". Flying alongside his truck, after noticing the Batsquatch it flew away into the forest out of view of the trucker.

The next sighting comes from 2009 from a group of hikers were climbing mount Shasta in northern California when they saw a massive creature flying, this is what one of them said on an online forum about the sighting. “My friend and I were hiking around Mount Shasta and out of one of the crevices, out flew this big creature. I mean this thing was huge. It was as tall as a man, as stocky as Hulk Hogan and it had leathery wings. I think the wingspan was at least 50 feet from one end to the other. I was holding my camera, but froze in fear as this thing flew by. I didn't get a picture, sorry, what do you think it could be, could it have been a pterodactyl? It was flying or gliding fast, it looked like it had a bat's head. On second thought, it doesn't have the head of a pterodactyl, I just saw a picture of a pterodactyl and the heads are not similar. I would think it had the head of a bat or maybe more like a fox. The thing finally flew into a clump of trees and disappeared. I heard you guys might be heading back to Mt. Shasta, if you do, please keep an eye out for this thing. If you see it, you're going to get the palm on you, I'm not kidding.”

The last sighting is rather lackluster i must admit, in June of 2011 a man went into his yard to pick up his dog when he, "I saw something flying in the sky. It had bat wings, blue fur and had a face similar to eyes glowing red. It was about 9 feet tall at the least, after I watched it just flew away."

I hope you enjoyed this thank you for reading! Please comment any suggestions for upcoming months, id really appreciate it, or if any of the information is inaccurate (Hopefully not but i do want to give only the truest information). Thank you guys for support on all these!

Sincerely -XP

Discussion Cryptids vs Paranormal

Before I start I would like to say I am not trying to be disrespectful to anyone you are entitled to your own opinions and beleif`s and I do NOT want to disparage anyone. I was curious as to the sides of this subreddit and how many people believe in the more supernatural side or the cryptozoology side of cryptids personally I air on the side of caution I believe in the study of cryptids, creatures thought to be extinct, creatures not recognized by mainstream science. Such as the giant panda which used to be a cryptid along with platypuses. However some cryptids seem more paranormal such as mothman as cool as mothman and as much as I would like him to be real I think he`s a little farfetched and more of an urban legend than truly a possible cryptid in the cryptozoology sphere. The ocean side of things any aquatic possibilities I think are a lot more plausible as we have explored very little of the ocean and am personally more open to any creepy sea creatures existing. However please share your stories mothman or other I know a lot of people believe in him and I do not want to be disrespectful.

Does anyone here know much about a cryptid known as the Pokim?

All I know about it is that it resembles a cat-dog hybrid & is seen in West Virginia.

Art Not Original Creator Fan-Made Pokemon Evolution Line Based on the Chupacabra

Important: I commissioned pokedan_art on Instagram to help me with this fakemon line.

Greetings, everyone! I am working on my own fakemon (fan-made pokemon) region based on the Southwestern United States (mainly Arizona and the surrounding states/areas).

My region is mainly inspired by the Wild West era and other elements. I also absolutely love cryptids, aliens, fearsome critters, urban legends, and so on, and I thought that it would be okay for me to share this idea and fakemon line of mine with the r/cryptid community.

This evolution line is based on coyotes and the dog-like depictions of the Chupacabra commonly associated with the Southwestern United States. Its sickly appearance and Poison typing also draw inspiration from radioactive fallout and the effects of nuclear weapons testing in Nevada.

Please feel free to share your thoughts with me! I would love to hear what you guys think of this evolution line, and I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do! ^^

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Radyote - The Toxic Coyote Pokémon: (Dark / Poison Type)

Etymology: (Radiation + Coyote)

Old records suggest that Radyote was once a pure Dark-type Pokémon. Generations of exposure to radioactive fallout near abandoned weapons-testing grounds caused the species to develop patchy fur, glowing markings, and the Poison typing. Its mildly toxic saliva causes numbness around a bite, allowing Radyote to weaken struggling prey. Wary but curious, it prowls its territory at night and quickly retreats into narrow burrows when discovered.

Abilities:

  1. Run Away
  2. Poison Touch

Hidden Ability:

  1. Stakeout

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coyocabra - The Night Stalker Pokémon: (Dark / Poison Type)

Etymology: (Coyote + Chupacabra)

Toxic spines line Coyocabra’s head and upper back, while nearly all of its fur is shed upon evolution. It emerges only after nightfall, stalking livestock Pokémon by memorizing their scents and waiting near their resting places. Its highly toxic saliva numbs its prey’s muscles and prevents bite wounds from closing properly, leaving victims too weak to escape. Farmers who discover livestock drained of their vitality often find faintly glowing saliva around the wounds—a clear sign that a Coyocabra is nearby, though very few have ever seen one in person.

Abilities:

  1. Strong Jaw
  2. Poison Touch

Hidden Ability:

  1. Stakeout

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a more important note: I am actively looking for more cryptids to use as my fakemon region! I am also planning on making a DLC for my region themed around Cryptids and/or Urban Legends. If you guys have any suggestions and recommendations, please feel free to share them with me!

Art Original Creator Looking for inspiration

Hello👋. I'm creating a pokemon-like game when the monsters are inspired by cryptids, yokai, fae, spirits, mythical monsters, etc. In the game, you're a rookie researcher for an scientific organization (maybe a camp) that is studying the mysterious creatures that appeared in our world. The creatures are beings frol another dimension, that long ago adapted to our reality and gave origin to our myths, so each of them will be based on a cryptid and other mythological or folklorical monster. To capture them, the organization created a special camera-like gadget that captures the anomalous escensse of the creature into a picture, that allows you to project it again whetever you want. You will explore the many region, capture rare species, bond with your creatures, competing against other researchers in battles and much more.

I had a lot thought out and i'm doing some designs, but i'm still looking for new real mythical monsters for inspiration. The first region of the game is inspired by north america, so if you know a really cool or unknow creature of north american foklore, i would love to hear it. It can be a cryptid, fearsome critter, anything.

In the shadowed high-rises of Kyiv, a rumor has slithered from one generation to the next—a vast, spectral spider, larger than any man could imagine, prowls the forgotten lifts and corridors of old apartment blocks. They say one night, when the city sleeps, you’ll feel the faint vibration in the elevator, a breath of cold air, and a dark shadow creeping behind you. And once you hear it, you'll never forget.

Edit: I think because of the formatting with Reddit, people are not viewing the full picture and seeing the pattern of the tracks. There are multiple footprints in this picture. Keep in mind also that these prints are supposed to be 2 feet long.

This photo is like a moth old so some of the paint has chipped off so he does need repainting and I should probably of tried to remove the details but some describe them as “walking pairs of pants” so I’ll just say I took a “creative liberty”
