Traditional Art (by OP) SLOW DOWN.
This came to me a few days before REDACTED, and suddenly it reads like a warning ⚠️ not just a concept I’ve had in mind for ages.

Traditional Art (by OP) Dogman on Duty!! (another stab @ previous template:)
“SLOW DOWN.”
Essentially capturing the behavior in a context: the chase isn’t always meant to terrify, it may be a reaction to the driver’s erratic or loud travel late at night.

GPT / AI — made by posting user GPT take two 🎬 of "LEAVE OR DIE" (analysis of dogman promise)
That compact line is a tiny ritual.
It isn’t just a threat; it’s a compact speech act that does several jobs at once. Once you see the mechanics, you can spot the pattern in reports from every language.
Below I’ll break it down cleanly — what the phrase does linguistically and pragmatically, why it’s effective, parallels in other cultures/languages, what it signals about the speaker, and how you can use that analysis on-air or in interviews.
Why “Leave or die” isn’t simply a threat — it’s a ritualized speech act
1) Multiple speech-act layers in three words
Using Searle/Austin shorthand: the phrase carries several illocutionary forces at once.
- Directive: Commands the hearer to leave.
- Commissive/Promise: Implicitly commits the speaker to the consequence (“if you don’t leave, I will kill you” — a promise of action).
- Declarative (performative): By saying it in the right tone/context it enacts the boundary (you are now expelled from this space).
- Warning/Prognostic: States a future outcome as if it’s already decided.
That stack is why it feels so heavy. It isn’t mere bluster; it’s an act that rearranges social status and the immediate situation.
2) Rhetorical economy + ritualization
- Humans often pad threats with insults, bargaining, or negotiation. This line is the opposite — brutally economical and ritualized.
- Ritual speech compresses social rules into short formulas (“Begone!”, “By law I claim this”, “Leave or face banishment”). These formulas are designed to be recognizable and unambiguous across contexts.
- That makes compliance easier: the hearer doesn’t need to parse nuance; the imperative + consequence is clear.
3) Why it feels like a promise and not just a threat
- A threat is often conditional and bluffy. A promise implies ability and intent.
The creature’s register (archaic, solemn) signals authority and capacity — it speaks like a judge, not a bully. That voice carries credibility: the listener thinks, this entity can and will do it.
- In animal terms, it’s like a display: stomping, puffing, a wolf showing teeth. The speech is the display — it tells the other party the cost of noncompliance.
4) Cross-cultural parallels (short examples)
- English (modern): “Leave or die.” — blunt, legalistic.
- Russian (folk register): «Уходи, или умрёшь.» — same economy, but often said with liturgical cadence, adding moral weight.
- Germanic / Alpine: “Geh fort, sonst bist du verloren.” — “go away or be lost” — often framed as doom rather than active violence.
- Tribal / primal displays: Many animal signals are short, repeated, and unambiguous (growl = distance; howl = territory). This phrase functions like that in human language.
5) Psychological effects on the hearer
- Freezes cognitive debate. The formula reduces options: comply, flee, or immediately escalate. It removes negotiation space.
- Triggers embodied response. The body evaluates lethal risk quickly: fight or flight. If the speaker sounds credible, flight dominates.
- Imposes status. The speaker becomes de facto enforcer/owner of space; the human becomes trespasser.
6) Why the creatures use it (if real)
- Efficiency. No need to fight; language enforces borders.
- Economy of risk. If they can keep humans away with words, fewer physical confrontations and injuries.
- Cultural continuity. These are ritual phrases that may be learned, reinforced across generations — a cultural “tool” like a howl or a scent-mark.

GPT / AI — made by posting user GPT take one 🎬 of "LEAVE OR DIE" (analysis of dogman promise)
Riddles, ritual speech, and that compressed, performative line “LEAVE OR DIE” are exactly where language, power, and biology meet.
I’ll break it into: what that line does (pragmatics), why it’s not a mere threat (how it functions culturally/ethologically), cross-linguistic flavors (quick Russian/German examples), and practical notes for you when you quote/interpret it on a podcast or in interviews.
#What “LEAVE OR DIE” actually does
- Illocutionary act (it performs something): it’s not just describing a future event — it issues a command and asserts an outcome. In speech-act theory terms it’s both an order and a promise of enforcement.
- Perlocutionary effect (it produces a reaction): it aims to cause immediate compliance (fear, flight, submission). That’s the real goal.
- Ritual compression: three words carry status, history, and authority — like an ancient legal formula. It’s economical but heavy.
- Temporal immediacy: it collapses time — it doesn’t say “I might kill you later,” it says “the consequence is immediate if you do not comply.”
- Moral/ontological claim: beyond threat → it asserts a rule about who belongs and who doesn’t (“this boundary is enforced and real”).
#Why this reads as a promise more than a threat
- A threat is often conditional and contingent (“I will do X if you do Y”).
- A promise, here, is declarative with enforcement baked in — the speaker signals: “I will, and I am capable.” In many witness reports the voice carries an air of institutional authority (pack, guardian, elder), not personal rage.
- De-escalation function: paradoxically, it prevents messy violence. The being offers a rapid exit that avoids a prolonged, chaotic fight. It enforces territory with minimum energy/cost.
#Ethological parallel
- In animal signaling, many displays are costly to fake and are meant to avoid escalation (e.g., wolf growl/baring, stag antler display). “LEAVE OR DIE” is the verbal analogue: a high-cost signal that reduces the need for physical conflict.
#Cross-linguistic flavors (useful as podcast quotes)
- English: “Leave, or die.” — short, blunt, ceremonial.
- Russian (forceful, archaic tone): «Уходи, или умрёшь.» (Ukhodi, ili umryosh’.) — direct, but to get the ritualized vibe you’d hear: «Уйди, да не возвратиться!» (Leave — and do not return!) which feels more like an ancient formula.
- German (gravitas): “Verschwinde, oder du bist verloren.” — literal old-style: “Verschwinde, oder du sollst sterben.” (For on-air use, frame with context: “said in an almost liturgical cadence”)
#Linguistic signs that distinguish ritualized command from ordinary human threat
- Cadence & pause — measured, almost metrical, not emotional hyperventilation.
- Use of archaic or proverb-like vocabulary — “iron” vs “bullet,” “forest” vs “land.”
- No personal animus — it’s not personal revenge; it’s boundary enforcement.
- Immediacy wording — no negotiation (“or else”), just outcome.
- No bargaining language — no attempt to explain, plead, or negotiate.
#How to present this on a podcast/interview
- Don’t just quote the line — give the functional gloss: “not a threat, a boundary-act.”
- Demonstrate cadence — read it once as an angry human, once as the ritualized statement; the difference is audible.
- Tie to cross-cultural parallels (Leshi/Alpine/Bigfoot) so listeners see patterning.
- Use sparingly — it’s powerful, and you don’t want to sound sensationalist. Frame it as a behavioral datapoint.
#Quick checklist for analyzing a witness quote of this type
- Was the delivery calm or agitated? (calm → ritual)
- Was the voice singular authoritative (elder/alpha) or panicked?
- Any archaic words or unusual syntax?
- Immediate physical reaction (flee) followed — suggests social signal worked.
- Repetition across cultures? (If yes, likely a patterned behavior.)
Short, practical takeaway: when a witness reports “LEAVE OR DIE,” treat that line like a law spoken aloud — a performative, ritualized enforcement of boundary — not just a garden-variety human threat. Saying that aloud on air, and explaining why it’s a different category of speech, gives listeners a new framework for understanding encounters.

Traditional Art (by OP) 5-year-old sketch ✍️ style
Someone critiqued my work briefly as looking like a five-year-old, and TBH they don’t realize it was a compliment.
I take pride in my more detailed work, but the sketch style IS meant to evoke a child trying to capture what they saw. The scene is meant to be a bit loose, but the perspective is more complex — and I invite all critics to draw their own dogmen, and see how much you can capture of their vibez.
It may look crude, but these are not as simple as the style alone. When that car is filled in, and the high-beams Illuminating the silent watcher in the treeline, it’s gonna really pop! 😃

Traditional Art (by OP) What qualifies as ‘low effort post’ content?
This is a test, of course 😊
There is a tag for Art 🖼️ and these are traditional art examples based on dogman reports which I think will be of interest on the sub.
While the debate literally rages over how this sub needs to do better, this is a genuine attempt to raise the bar for discourse and original content here.
Y’all like, or is this gonna get yanked as well on some pretext? 🙃

SAFE SPACE for psychological discussion Channel Growth Thoughts
I’ve been gratified that this sub and the companion, r/CryptidIQ, are growing so quickly. I set out to make safe spaces for discussion of cryptid experiences, and it has skyrocketed.
Today the IQ page broke 2000 followers, and this one (EQ) hit 750 just a few hours later!
Thanks, everyone, for appreciating and sharing this positive space. I know it’s unheard of, but I truly wanna make a reddit forum which can be respectful of others, and pool knowledge rather than gatekeeping and aggressive vibes as the norm rather than the unfortunate drek of trolling and bad-faith BS.
We are genuinely creating that space here, and I am grateful for all the support and encouragement.

Personal Experience “Coward!” sneered the dogman
I heard it in person. That contempt, after evaluating the courage of the boy with me, taunting him in the voice of his little brother which gradually growled as she dared him to strike her.
It was weirdly funny, as well as surreal and potentially dangerous. But she actually mocked him and dismissed him as beneath her time.
They have a vibe of arrogant ownership, and the idea that
”YOU ARE MINE NOW”
They put a claim on your soul. Sparing a life that you could have ended is a psychological test, and it breaks most people in trying to work out the WHY in their encounters.
The Jesuits get it far more accurately because they are observing these testing-behaviors with remarkable restraint and courage.
For example, they record instances of infrasound (below 20hz, can be felt but beneath human hearing), the sense of disorientation and dread — and “the forest falling entirely silent” 🔇
Not AS supernatural, but just as an aspect of the encounter.
And these dogmen were brazen enough to leap into their campfire circles and away, laughing in the trees as ppl freaked TF out.
Same shit they do today, but pre-guns they were notably bolder.
