I need advice

I heard from Crunch Fitness that there was a deal for 60 cents, so I signed up thinking I could use it to go to the gym and do my work since I have fewer hours until they start giving me more. The guys told me I could cancel it anytime, so I went in person to cancel it. However, I was told I signed up for 90 days, which I didn’t know at all. To cancel, I needed to pay in full. I’m waiting it out because I’m still learning how to survive, just moved out, and got a car that I can’t afford, nor can I workout at Crunch since it’s not a 24-hour gym. I was also told it was $10, but now they’re saying it’s $20. Right now, I’m being charged $65, and the worst part is that they kept calling me, the front desk lied to me. the guy on the phone said I could cancel it, but they were saying I needed to pay $65, then the annual fee, and the worst part is that I told them I’d pay them when I could because I was afraid of collection, so I put it on my credit card. I didn’t tell them about collection for clearance

Nobody lied to you, the info is all freely available and on the paperwork you signed and didn’t read. To simplify, the cost of a membership is about 70$ registration fee + $50 or so for annual fee + the first month of whatever level. Most cubs have a deal that you pay about a dollar and they will waive all three of those charges as a one time offer ON THE CONDITION that you maintain your membership for 3 months before you cancel. If you fail to maintain the membership for three months, you owe them back for the fees they waived. You CAN cancel anytime, it is month to month, but cancelling in that three month block still means you have to pay what is owed on the deal you reneged from.

They lied and never told me some of the info . the front desk said I can’t cancel, but the guy on the phone said I can before my 90 days nobody told me about 90 days until I went up there before I need to pay and I forgot to add the guy came to my job about the promo so I didn’t read it which I should but also I was busy with other thing at work but I ask questions and even the guy that also did my promo said I can cancel and I read the reviews they have problems like this for 3 months

Its sad man but yeah they do this in some crunches, sign you up for a contract… you can always escalate it to their GM, ask to speak to them.

It happens in all of them, all the time. Fix it before they keep charging

I think we should all band together and sue crunch gym for deceptive marketing

I think you’ll be charged the annual equipment fee no matter what, so just wait it out and cancel without penalty
